*MARCH 2007 UPDATE*
We are currently recording with Micah Huerta in his Baltimore studio
Park Police are a three piece rock trio from the Baltimore/DC area. Having played together in different bands since the mid 90's, (one of which was Jook, where they enjoyed mild success opening for bands like George Clinton and The Meters) they've stripped down their sound to concentrate on writing pop tunes. Their debut album, "Ranchero" was released in August 2005.
What people have said about "Ranchero":
"Its rock is hook-laden but doesnt pander merely to brainless pop, catchy without being vacant. Surging changes start and stop midsong without detracting from tunes momentum. And while the songwriting is crafty and witty, above all Park Police is loose and fun. Its obvious that the band enjoys itself as the tracks tick by." -Baltimore City Paper
"...theres nothing more comfortable than cruising around in a beat-up pickup even half of one and Ranchero is just the CD to blast from the busted speakers. Not only are many individual tracks bona fide driving songs (especially and obviously Next Gear), but the album as a whole is a rollicking, we-dont-slow-down-for-speed-bumps kind of affair. Go get a jump-start, duct tape the brake lights back on and hit the road with Ranchero. " -mudsugar.com
"There`s so much cool stuff going with Park Police`s "Ranchero" it`s hard to pin down....These guys are from Baltimore, MD and you know, there`s sounds of other cool bands from that area (Myracle Brah, Montgomery Cliffs, Bastards Of Melody, in particular) but the corner the listener finds themselves in is pure contentment with the experience of enjoying some really, really fresh power pop with an soft-ish indie rock kick in the ass. " -Not Lame
"Think Jesus Urge Superstar era power-pop smarts in a record about the open road. The lyrical peaks are witty enough that I'd warn Steve Malkmus that he's been lifted of his thesaurus, and I'll be damned if the music didn't feature summa that unexpected waggle that made the Archers of Loaf so danged good." -Dceiver.blogspot.com
"Mission Song" was co-named the Number 1 "2005 Song of the Year" by KRFC Radio Free Colorado. It was also named "Best Song in Alternative Modern Rock" at The Independent Artist Company in 2006 . "Down with Control" made it to Number 7 for several weeks on the 1500 song playlist at Radio Wazee in 2005.
"Ranchero" is now available at the following locations:
