Aside from its welcoming atmosphere, if there is one thing that is truly notable about Parkview it would be the house's fervor and enthusiasm for sports. If you aren't already an arm-chair quarterback, cheerleader, or commentator, more than likely you will be before you leave. One should be lightly warned, however...Parkview is a SAINTS and LSU bar!! Absolutely, totally, and unequivocally! Don't be alarmed, though...many less fortunate souls who have allegiance to different teams have experienced the very same open-armed hospitality Parkview extends to WHO DATS and Tigers Fans.
Music
The quest for the perfect musical gumbo never stops: we have Stones, Hendrix, Beatles, Little Feat, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison, Steve Miller, Marvin Gaye, Tower of Power, Mel Waiters, Bill Withers, Jean Knight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, G-Love and Special Sauce, Anders Osborne, Swamp Pop, Ween, The Specials, Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jimmy Cousins, The Pixies, Stevie Ray Vaughan....you get the point. It takes a whole lot of seasoning to get it right.
Movies
No need for movies here! Football season is always an event unto itself complete with loads of awesome food and home-cooked goodies. Mix in the Re-Birthday Party, the Annual Crawfish Boil, the Parkview Art Market, Turkey bowling on Thanksgiving, occasional luau, pool and dart tournaments, and any reasonable excuse for a party, with the flair for drama that is every New Orleanian's birthright, movies could just never be as interesting!
Television
We now have SEVEN televisions!! While five of them are absolutely purposed for sports, we have recently installed two T.V.s especially for our NTN Trivia and Texas Hold'Em. Here is another footnote: For those of you who can't live without your computer, Parkview has Wi-Fi service, too.
Books
Glad you mentioned it. Hosting a long-time book exchange, Parkview is a veritable library, too! Books and authors run the gamut from Deaver, King, Koontz, and Cornwell to Tolstoy, the Dummies guide to Shakespeare, Guinness Book of World Records, as well as Mark Twain, Arthur Conan Doyle, Gore Vidal, and even guilty pleasures like Flowers In The Attic. (You know you've read it!)
Heroes
Sean Payton, Les Miles, our regulars, and even some of our irregulars, too!

Parkview Tavern Saints Vs. Houston Saturday night! Posted at 5:16 AM Aug 15, 2008 view more
Parkview Tavern is located practically next door to beautiful City Park and is only four blocks from Bayou St. John. The building has housed a bar for over 75 years and is arguably the oldest bar in Mid-City. Along with the cast of colorful characters that inhabit this neighborhood hang-out, it boasts the only bar with a patio. It is a rare sight when there aren't folks outside enjoying a cool beverage and conversation. For many, the Parkview is a must-stop for it's famous bloody marys...especially during Jazzfest!
Who I'd like to meet: those who love and hold New Orleans near and dear to their hearts.
