PARKWAY WRETCH-
Hands down still AZs best kept secret (dont tell em I said that). Raucous punk with a slightly Mid 90s East Bay vibe, minus all the pretentious trappings. A solid 25 mins of angst that can only be done by guys with day jobs, children & real life problems. Having Yami back in the band makes the trainwreck even harder to turn away from on and off stage. He gives the mild mannered PW an edge sorta like they could snap. Plus kudos to any drummer that continues playing while vomiting.
REVIEW BY IMPACT PRESS:::
"Parkway Wretch Homesick Formula 13 This reminds of a more hardcore Chrimpshrine. The melodies are sick good and the passion is oozing from each track. The vocals are gruff and snotty at the same time, exuding a punk rock angst that is only amplified by the more hardcore musical moments. There are numerous great sing-along moments and a caffeinated energy that only makes it easier to become addicted to. (CM)"
Bio? Where we're going we don't need bios.
But i'll try to sum it up like this. Parkway was born out of Small Appliances (SMAPP) when the old drummer Danny got way too crazy. Billy and Mikey got Carter who used to play with Mikey in Mother Knows Best. After a while Carter quit the band and moved to Sierra Vista or some small town like that, Mikey moved from drums to bass and we got Yami from Garys Agenda. Garys Agenda broke up and we got Brad involved, and we were a four piece for the first time. At some point we shortly changed our name to The Agenda and then back again, same songs but a different name. Brad and Yami started John Denvers Last Flight, Mikey played in that and Billy wanted to go back to a three piece so he kicked Brad out. After a while Parkway met Nasty D and Abe at Formula 13 and they put out a record for us. Mikey wanted to play guitar so he said we should have D on bass. We were a four piece again. Things went bad and we kicked Yami out and got Chris on drums, we felt bad about Yami and got him back and Mikey, D and Chris started Japanese Monsters. After that, Mikey went to Rumspringer as well as Parkway Wretch, Japanese Monsters and Hot Dog. He then quit Parkway and we got Brad back in the band.
We recorded alot over all that time, the first recordings were for cassettes because that was still commonplace then. We put out alot of stuff ourselves and played some really good shows. Our first club show was with Fifteen at the Nile in Mesa, and our last was with Dillinger 4 at Jugheads.
Billy had 2 kids during it all, Yami had 1 and Brad found out he was gonna be a daddy before too long. Billy and Mikey got married (not to each other).
Yami is in Sharp Sticks, Mikey is in Rumspringer, Japanese Monsters, Hot Dog and The Fuck You Ups, and maybe one or three other bands, Carter is in Oregon living off the land, Chris is in Japanese Monsters, Brad is saving money for some time off when his baby comes, Nasty D is in Good men die like dogs, Japanese Monsters, The Fuck You Ups, and runs the Dude Brothel and records it all, and Billy is in Good men die like dogs.
i think thats it.
