Parlour
'Parlour' is a series of performance events, revolving around the tradition of pub peformances, and parlour games.
Parlour Blanc
'Parlour Blanc' took place on the 25th April 2007.
'Parlour Blanc' embodied the theme of ghost stories, hauntings, and creepy things. There was be saxophone players, clairvoyant mime artists, binbag visions, opera, and other creepy images.
Parlour Rouge
'Parlour Rouge' was a performance event involving things that are guaranteed to make you cry, get angry, or laugh.
It contained scenes of time-travelling demonic possesion, Christmas voodoo, and pigeon catching.
Parlour Noir
'Parlour Noir' embodied the theme of 'Film Noir' and all the trappings which surround that strange genre. It involved crime-scene shadows, futile police musicians, and other mysterious entities.
Here's what people say:
"The first, 'Parlour Rouge', featured Ms
Bates on piano, hosting a fireside chorus of chinese
drinking games,
silent stand up, absentee heckling, bisexual arm wrestling, demonic
ranting, christmas tree fitting, and a victorian gent coughing up his
decorations.
'Parlour Noir' infests the same victoriana pub setting with a cast of
performers inspired by the film noir genre..."
"Watchful eyes brings mystery to bed
Demons welcome you with thrills and darkness
All awaken the spirits of the lonely dead
Those who hide in the shadows their sins confess.
The night is wrought with creative madness
You try escaping but it's no use
Victims of your crimes, more for less
Dream the desire you choose, win or lose.
Pass into my parlour oh innocent prey
Observe the mysteries abound in the air
Tonight you will wish it all away
In the blinking of an eye, are you sure you you were
there?"
"A night of talent, untimely laughs, foul language, fireplaces, catching pigeons, arm wrestling, tights, a well-dressed man and his christmas bows, a santa candle, a young 'confused' 'man' playing the piano smoking cigars, cigarettes, alcohol, foreign languages and free whiskey shots?
and much much MUCH more....
it can only be Parlour Rouge."
