Parrothead Paradise started as an “offshoot” of my frat party band Pseudo. We were looking for more gigs to play during the spring and summer months, and decided to do some of the classic Buffet and Bob Marley tunes. We picked 7 or 8 of the most popular tunes from each and added some extras like, Johnathan Edwards’ “Sunshine go away today’, then Jimmy Cliffs’ “I can see clearly now” … wha-la, Parrothead Paradise was born. The Buffet and Marley was great and we began adding stuff as we went along: Steve Miller, Paul Simon, and reggae versions of classics like “Knocking on Heavens Door” and Cat Stevens’ “Wild World”. All in all, this band has been a lot of fun and we find ourselves booked more as Parrothead Paradise rather than Pseudo.
I’ll take sand between my toes over cheese any day!
We're giving away 4 free tickets to this Friday's Gwen Stefani show at HiFi Buys, along with VIP access. We are playing the VIP/Club room for the concert. Just come out to this Thursdays show at The Midnight Room (The Last Great Watering Hole) and the band will give away 4 tickets to the Friday concert.
Do you like Bonnie Raitt but don't have tickets to her Apr 26th Classic Center Show? Excellent! Come check me out instead at The Melting Point this Thursday @ 8:00 pm. Then you can stick around for the very entertaining "King Cotton."
