Sounds Like
A lot of people singing, the same song, all at once, in the same room. Rather nice actually.
Named in honour of the Grievous Angel, Mr Gram Parsons, The Parsonage is a group of around 40 Glasgow based singers which was formed at the beginning of 2006 by Janis F. Murray. We are a non-religious, mixed sex, varied of age, determinedly independent and self defining organic group. Inspiration comes from the raw, storytelling simplicity of the folk, country and blues traditions.
Our first EP, 'This Ain't No Lovey Dovey' was released December 2007 on Glasgow label OSScarr Records and is available at the OSCarr webiste http://www.optimo.co.uk.
2007 and 2008 were busy fun. Hilarious times performing in a great array of venues including backing vocals for Rod Stewart at Hampden and many summertime festivals (we had a crowd surfer - this must be a first in the world of choir!?) and wintertime singing with sad songs a plenty.
The dark nights of 2008 were devoted to accumulating a repertoire of Gram Parsons and Hank Williams songs followed by presentation of our very own Gram Parsons and Hank Williams tribute days.
It's now 2009, we're 3 years old and have performed the main stage at T In The Park and just completed recording our first album. This has 4 songs from Hank Williams and 4 from Gram Parsons. It will be entitled simply, 'Hank and Gram' and will be available in Spring 2010.
Welcome to our Parsonage thing, we hope you like the way that we sing.
Hi there. Hi-octane country / rock’n’roll from Arizona with Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers along with Glasgow’s finest gothic balladeers The Dirt. All at the Grand Ole Opry on Sunday 21st February. Good music, great venue. Why not come along?
We're at The Inn at Lathones on Sun 21 Feb and play Sounds In The Suburbs at The Woodend, Glasgow on Fri 19 March. We also have a bunch of other dates around Europe that your friends can go to. Full details can be found in my myspace blog. Johnny
Thought I'd let you know about our Bob Dylan night in Glasgow this month. We're exploring the roots of Dylan's music in Scottish and Irish folk songs and have assembled a 6 piece band and have various performers coming along to give their own interpretations of some classic Bob Dylan songs. It should be a fun night!
If you fancy having a listen to some of recordings or to find out more information about the event get in touch through myspace!
I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.
