Sounds Like
A blend of guitar fingerstyle tunes and melodic songs that have been influenced by many a great songwriter and musician alike. Early influences range from Davey graham, Bert jansch, and the folk boom of the 60's. John Tony & Sophie all compose the music while John is the main songwriting force and prolific lyricist within the trio. "All the songs we compose are influenced by all genres of music but most obviously to the ear its a cross with folk & acoustic music. We try hard not to 'pigeon hole' ourselves as the saying goes, although we do have this acoustic folk thing going on". "We just love writing songs and playing music for the sheer passion we have for it". Parson Jacks.......................................
Parson Jacks are an acoustic trio with a difference, bringing to you melodic and timeless songs written from the heart and influenced from all walks of life & experiences. The trio who comprise of Jon Sharp, Tony Hurst & Sophie Parry formed in the summer of 2006 and have since written and recorded their debut album simply entitled 'Parson Jacks' which is now available at 'live' performances and downloadable on itunes..
. Jon having been a solo performer for many years with three solo albums under his belt and session guitarist with many numerous bands decided to put together a new female fronted acoustic trio when graduating from university in 2005. He approached old friend and ex bandmate Tony Hurst who recommended female vocalist and theatrical songstress Sophie Parry who has appeared as leading vocalist in many theatrical productions across the UK. Since the formation of Parson Jacks they have appeared 'live' on BBC DJ John Govier's late night show as well as appearing and being broadcast 'live' on BBC television across the nation as part of John Goviers late night birthday bash from The Reel Cinema in Plymouth. They have gone from strength to strength building a large following across the southwest and this year see's them play various venues and festivals across the UK. Their debut gig was supporting 60's folk blues legend Wizz Jones and are now busy recording their follow up album which will be available later this year.
