About me: The Chicago based alternative art collective known as the Parts and Labor Collective. Founded in 2006 by Daniel Gerdes, the collective is a DIY network of creatives building an alternative to the tired gallery system. No two shows are alike. Artists represent themselves and keep 100% of the profits from their artwork. We work together to help promote, curate, and host shows. No commissions. No contracts. No hullabaloo. Headquarters for our shows is a converted loft space in the Humbolt Park neighborhood of Chicago. In the new year there are also plans to put out a quarterly art journal that publishes the works of its' members. The art journal will be distributed in strange methods, often as a mystery gift to random addresses.
