What do we believe in?Peace, Love, Unity and Respect (PLUR):
As party goers we believe that it is the responsibility of the individual to look after themselves as grown and educated adults. We choose to make our own choices. We choose the right to party and free ourselves through dance and music...
Drugs:
We believe people will use drugs despite the costs, risks and dangers associated with their nature and legality so it's important for them to know what to expect and how to stay safe in order to minimise the risk to themselves because other than not using drugs, there is only one way to keep safe: being informed!
Rave / Free parties / Teknivals :
Since the Criminal Justice Act 1994 (CJA) was introduced in Britain and other legislation was introduced abroad, free party & rave gatherings have become illegal. While some of these events have been negatively criticized and perhaps rightly so, there's a side of this culture concerned with getting these events accepted into society.
The principles of Peace, Love, Unity and Respect (PLUR) have been upheld for more than a decade and a half by those of us who wish to enjoy music and dance in non-commercial settings. Despite similar events having traditionally been enjoyed through the ages they've only been criminalize in recent years. And our position is these events can be a socially beneficial, bringing people and communities together.
We hold the main reason they've been disruptive is because they are illegal, and the tension, frustration and lack of communication that have resulted are factors of the public's negative perception. What is lacking is meaningful dialog between organizers and local communities, attempts so far having been mainly counter productive despite the fact many such events have been responsibly held.
Overall we hope to encourage healthy, legal, responsible and safe party ideologies.
