Always my guiding light, my father, the..... DYA SINGH!!!
I am lucky to have been brought up going to music festivals such as Woodford, Womad, the old Victor Harbour Folk Festival, Fringe, National Folk Fest, and many many more here in Australia and also USA/Canada/UK/Singapore, so I have been exposed to wonderful music and dance from all over the world from a very young age.
Put that with the saturday morning wake up to Video Hits or now MTV/VH1 and you get a very interesting blend :)
They have influenced me to create my own style and identity bringing together the fusion of the modern world yet retaining the cultural heritage of my past.
Sounds Like
Sheila Chandra, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, PlanetJosh, most importantly... Parvyn K Singh.
Since age 5, Parvyn Singh has been performing on stages in Australia and internationally at Arts and Folk Festivals, Concert Halls, special functions and widely throughout the Sikh community. She has toured extensively worldwide with the well-renowned band Dya Singh and is now preparing herself for what promises to be a successful and exciting solo career.
Parvyn started singing as part of an extremely musical and talented family with the influence from her father Dya Singh and soon began to realise her own dreams of pursuing a musical career. She learnt and picked up things from her father, as she took time off school to travel the world and perform and sing in front of audiences in Australia, America, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Kenya.
She has already released 16 albums with the Dya Singh World Music Group and over the years has been more and more involved in the music making process. She started writing songs at 13 and is now creating a new fusion style of music of her own. For more information please visit www.dyasingh.com
