I am a 29 year old guy from Krommenie Holland, which is about 20 minutes north of Amsterdam. I love (rock)music, going to (rock)concerts, collect (rock)music, travel, meeting new (rock)people and network.
I just want to work in the musicbusiness that has always been my dream. In the past, from very early on, I tried several things (like pestering all recordcompanies I could think of for a job) to get in to that business, but it was just to risky at that point knowing you won't earn a thing at first and the very little chance of doing so in the nearby future. So I decided to get a degree in something before I could focus entirely on music. I have that degree now, in business economics and I was heading to become a projectmanager (which was just work for me but helped me a lot to develop my personal skills) and planned to use these skills in future when the chance in the musicbusiness would arrive.
Now I have been networking a lot in the musicbusiness and gotten more insight of how this business works, I reckon this path I had set out for myself would not be succesful or very little chance of being so. So now I decided to go entirely for the musicbusiness and just work myself up, knowing I could always fall back on my business economics degree.
I am doing anything related to music: go to and try to arrange gigs, festivals, promote a few good new rockbands like Wired Desire, Million Dollar Reload, do some pluggin on the radio, be on myspace, write for forums and magazines, talk to everyone involved in the musicbusiness and by doing this building up a network to eventually come across the one person who 'gives' me my big break.
What I like to become is an A&R manager, projectmanager or concertpromoter in future, or get my own label. I just need some help to achieve that all. I have this idea for a great festival as well.
Anyone interested to give me some tips or maybe even help me promoting bands, organizing a festival or getting me a job in the music business? I would love to hear from you!
