PASIPHIK is Alex Jimenez & Mark Edgar, a guitar/conga acoustic duo from the San Francisco Bay Area.
PASIPHIK (just think of the ocean..) was formed out of the desire to share their music with the world… or however many people they can. It also represents themselves, their cultural identity, where they come from and who they are, as a whole or as the sum of two parts. Al & Mark wrote their first song together in 2001, and realized something special was going on.. an incredible songwriting partnership. They would like to share that with you.
Both Al and Mark are veterans of the Bay Area music scene... they have played together in different projects over the years, mostly as the rhythm section - bass and drums respectively.
Al played bass for Street Pigeon, The Steve Fegan Experience, and Euphoric Disaster back in the early/mid 90's. He then went back to his roots and switched back to his guitar, forming the acoustic duet Ms.Quito with artist/performer Allison Hennessy, as well as performing as a solo artist. In 2001 he released a post-Ms.Quito EP of his own material entitled Songs About Love, Loss... and Money.
Mark has performed and recorded with a variety of artists; he was the original drummer and co-founder of Primus. Other bands include Resin 7, Pure, Lotus Rush, Majestic Soul, & Tiare O Te Ao. His recordings include Resin 7's Mystified, Lotus Rush's Rosalie and Free This World, Majestic Soul's Majestic Soul and Sherah Sleeper's Wish.
PASIPHIK is now in the studio, and is about to finish recording their debut album, popculturesmoothie A labor of love for many years, with many difficulties and false starts, their first album is finally coming to fruition, and is scheduled for a Dec 2009 release.
