From the shards has come a lineup featuring Dave Ovenden, Pete Lawson, Fieldo, and bassist Jess Arnott replacing Izzy Foreal. This new version of the band performed at the Bilambil Sports Club Bushfire fundraiser on Sunday, March 8, 2009, and was described in an article in the Tweed Weekly about the event as "Paspalum with Dave Overton [sic]". This MySpace site will remain for a time as an historical monument to the founding lineup of Paspalum, who recorded an album of original material - 'Sticky Grass Pudding' - and performed mostly locally in the Bilambil area (with some outside forays) before becoming defunct. | | Sounds Like | The founding lineup described themselves thus: Folk Rock, Acoustic, etc., doesn't really describe what Paspalum do. We are a conglomeration of three separate and very different musical histories, with a chemistry (cliche!) that somehow works. One moment we might sound like an electric jug band, the next an acoustic rock outfit, and just as suddenly urban Australiana. It's not our role to classifiy ourselves - some PR mob will have to do the categorising. We just write and play what feels right, and at this early stage in the development of Paspalum, there are very few parameters that we feel we need to write and perform within. The band's identity is still developing (even though the individual members have been performing on this planet for no short time!) We like to call what we do 'Sticky Grass Music'. | | Record Label | Browneye Gramophonics | | Type of Label | Indie |
