From Los Angeles to Amsterdam to Berlin and Back, the musical play Passing Strange is the story of a young black bohemian, who abandons his bourgeois roots to journey to Europe searching for ‘the real’. Discovering a world of sex, drugs, rock and roll and art revolutionaries, our rebel-hero explores love, identity and the meaning of home.

“Passing Strange introduces an EXCITING NEW VOICE to contemporary musical theater. PART CONCERT, PART book MUSICAL with DRIVING ROCK MUSIC and a tart satiric tone – Passing Strange DEFIES generic categories. It dares in its playful way to honor those big questions that have set adolescent souls yearning for centuries. How to discover and be true to your convictions, how to live a meaningful life, and still pay the bills, how to find the understanding you need with out throwing away the love you’re offered.”

Bought this on iTunes after seeing the Tony performance. Been loving every song ever since. Hope there's plans to tour (or at least a west coast production). MUCH love to Stew and TNP. Thanks for making musicals cool again ;)
I used to watch Stew & TNP play in a little hole in the wall in Mesa, AZ. They were so wonderful and always way to big for the room. Now they are touching this massive audience, and they are still too big for the room.
Saw it last night -- completely fantastic! Very moving and thought-provoking - your Tony was well-deserved (and the show actually deserved more than 1 Tony Award!)!!
Congrats on the Tony! As a Southern Californian, I've been flowing Stew and TNP's career since I first saw the band perform at Java Joe's in San Diego waaaay back in 1997! I am so happy for Stew, Heidi, and all of the cast! Hope it gets a West Coast run!
