ABOUT PASSPORT FOR AMY

Passport For Amy
With beginnings that could be likened to Newcastle alt-rockers, Silverchair, Passport For Amy have emerged as the new high-school rock band to watch in 2011!
While one member still hovers under the legal drinking age, Passport For Amy have gone from strength to strength, joining the ranks of their contemporaries in Melbourne’s thriving indie scene.
Drawn together by a mutual love of music, Passport For Amy formed at High School 3 years ago. Since then members, Jordan Clay (Vocals/Guitar), James Freeman (Guitar/Vocals), Joshua Milgate (Bass) and Benjamin Williams (Drums) have played shows at some of Melbourne’s top venues, laid-down tracks for a debut EP and landed themselves a National tour support slot.
A Triple J Unearthed act, Passport For Amy were placed a close second in this year’s The Very West competition which pits the Western Suburb’s finest against each other in a bid to play Laneway Festival. With a loyal following and a fast-growing fan base, Passport For Amy are renowned for delivering their infectious, highly danceable brand of indie rock with loads of energy at every show.
With influences that range from Foals and Two Door Cinema Club, to 90’s classics Nirvana and Jeff Buckley, Passport For Amy blend their glitchy guitar lines and stuttering bass over earthy disco beats, and cap it off with passionate vocals creating something totally unique. Working closely with Producer/Engineer, Neil Gray of Big Sky Audio (Dig Cave Dig, Frowning Clouds, Vasco Era, Dan Sultan) Passport For Amy have burst from the studio, triumphantly clutching their debut EP, due out in 2011.
Handpicked to support Little Red on their 'All Mine' National tour this year, things are about to get a whole lot bigger for Passport For Amy!
“Passport for Amy are a lively bunch and play with purpose in delivering a catchy and familiar sound which instantly drew me in. If [they are] playing in your neck of the woods any time soon, they are well worth your time and effort to see perform.” Au Review ................

Hi everyone! Passport For Amy is an Indie Rock band from the western suburbs of Melbourne made up of four boys. Front man Jordan Clay on Vocals and Guitar, James Freeman on Lead Guitar and Back Up Vocals, Joshua Milgate on Bass Guitar & Benjamin Williams on Drums. .. Passport has been together for around two years now and was previously known as Amy Can Fly. In 2009 we changed our name to Passport For Amy and were on the look out for any opportunities to play in front of a crowd. Starting off with FreeZa events and school performances we noticed a great response from all different ages and people. Winning our local Battle of The Bands was our first real success as a band giving us nothing but inspiration to further pursue our musical dream. We slowly became recognised in our local suburb and started to gig more frequently with the support of others in our community. We now play all over the city of Melbourne at different venues like The Hi-fi Bar, The Esplanade Hotel, The Arthouse Hotel & Revolver Upstairs. .. We feel we put on a great show and love to play at any opportunity possible. If you want to contact us in regards to setting up a show be sure to email us at passportforamy@live.com. . ..
