Heroes
My grandfather - he's 98 years old this year.
My other grandfather - 90 this year, and still fully on the move.
My grandmother - she taught me much of what I know about sewing, cooking, life in general. I miss her still.
Kevin Roche - as if he didn't know that already - you are one of my costuming heroes, Kevin. Thanks for being so warm and welcoming to someone new to the scene. Much appreciated.
Past and Present Millinery and Costuming's Details
The feathers, the pouffs, the designs, the colors, the Unique qualities of each hat; no hat exactly like any other.
The feel of silks and satins, the joy of colorful ribbons, the beauty of a good silk flower.
Designing hats to be silly or to have fun. Making something that makes another happy and brings joy to all who see them.
I am a hatmaker- a milliner; I got my start by working at Living History Farms from April 2002 through August 2006. I was an historical interpreter and for the last two years I worked there, I was the millinery site supervisor. Prior to that, I was a high school history and At Risk teacher. I have sewn almost all of my life, thanks to my mother and grandmothers.
My work is displayed and/or used in several museums; Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa, The Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum in City of Industry, California, and the Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, Illinois. My work is also graced by being allowed to be on the heads of several historical interpreters- fur trade era mainly.
All of my hats are COMPLETELY hand sewn in the traditional manner - only on a rare occasion is millinery glue applied.
I am Denver's ONLY Custom Wedding veil and hatmaker - look for me in the upcoming edition of The Perfect Wedding Guide or find me at http://www.perfectweddingguide.com/Colorado/weddings.asp
If you see something here you cannot live without, or want a similar style of, please contact me! Special orders are my bread and butter, and several of the hats shown here are still available for sale. I do ship internationally. I'm happy to serve you and your needs!!

So good to see ya again and hope all is well with you and yours. Love ya, C*
My Dear, I just wanted to drop by to introduce myself and to say hello. I also wanted to thank you for joining me here on this new-fangled contraption. Unfortunately I am somewhat pressed for time and the Victrola is skipping again but I shall stop by again to drink in your most beautiful page, Respectfully Yours, Clayton Willoughby

"He's bricked up the doorway With tainted parts of his anatomy Lie still, like he wants you to Let him saw his disease in you Something dirty, something dirty And mom will forget what she won't see."
Cupid and my Campaspe played At cards for kisses; Cupid paid: He stakes his quiver, bow, and arrows, His mother's doves, and team of sparrows; Loses them too; then down he throws The coral of his lip, the rose Growing on's cheek (but none knows how); With these, the crystal of his brow, And then the dimple on his chin; All these did my Campaspe win: And last he set her both his eyes - She won, and Cupid blind did rise.
O Love! has she done this to thee? What shall, alas! become of me?
