Hi Alan!

I've come up with another question.
What does the bible say about Christians remarrying? (After they have been through a divorce).

I've heard two schools of thought:
1) The old testiment says that a woman who re-marries is committing adultery (I'm not sure where the verse is, I haven't found it)

2) When Jesus came he superceded the old testament laws, therefore this (number 1) school of thought isn't biblically correct.

I'm curious to know what scripture says about the circumstances surrounding re-marrying. I personally think it would greatly depend on the circumstances, and the hearts of each person (which God knows full well).

But if there's anything from the bible discussing it, I'd be interested to hear it :)

Hope you have a good day :)

Hi Alan.

I went to a Methodist church service in Wales this week. The minister was of the opinion that the book of 'Isiah' was actually written by more than one man (named Isiah).

He reasoned that this made sense because pupils always emulated their teachers writing and teaching...so they could have essentially been 'copy cats' of the original author Isiah.

He also said that this was supported by the timespan of the book. The book covers so much time, it would not be practical to assume that one man wrote it.

I had never heard of this theory before, and was wondering if you have any comments on the validity (or lackthereof) of it?

I realise it's a somewhat trivial question, but I'm curious to know a bit more about it so as to make my own opinion.

I hope you didn't think that just because I'm overseas you're rid of my questions!

Merry Christmas to you and Robyn, hope you are well!

"Daniel 1:7

The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego"

I was reading this last night, and it occured to me that a lot of 'name changing' happens in the bible.

There are examples of people changing names after coming to know God (eg: Saul to Paulus aka Paul).
And then there are people, like Daniel, who had their names changed for them.

I'm curious to know why this happened so often, and what purpose did it serve?

Thanks,
Kit

Hi Allan,

This is an extreme hypothetical situation:
If someone never read or heard the gospel in their entire life, is there still opportunity for that person to be saved by God? Can he reveal the gospel to them through other means? (Creation etc) Thanks!

I have another question!

I know we should find sin appaling. In todays day and age, there is certainly a lot to be shocked at.

But...how can we be so against sin without judging the person?

Is it wrong to accept a person with their sin, but not AGREE or encourage the sin?

(And thank you for the blog to my previous question. It was very helpful)

Alan,

A lot of the time when I read my Bible the word 'righteous' comes up.
Generally the first thing I think of is someone being critised for being 'self-righteous'

I do understand the difference between the two, but I was wondering if there is a biblical definition of righteousness AND possibly self-righteousness as well?

How we can spiritually differ between the two.

I hope that makes sense. I can't really think of how to word it any more accurately.

Thanks,
Kit

What do you know about baptism in the holy spirit? what does that mean? how do we know if we are? what is the difference between being baptised with the holy spirt and not? does it have anything to do with salvation? It says in the bible that jesus will baptise with the holy spirit and not with water? do you have some books on this? can we chat about it? I am jsut keen on getting some reliable teaching on this

Alan

Matthew 16:24 says, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." For those that aren't married, does part of "denying ourself" include denying our desire to want to get married? Denying - not in the sense of ignoring it - but giving it up to him.

Hi Alan,
Isaiah 45:7 says

7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

We know that God did not create evil. Could you explain this?

In my homegroup a while ago we were focussing on 'trust'.
The question came up;
Is there a difference between trust and faith?

We tried defining the two, but it pretty much came out the same. I was wondering if you could answer this question please :)

I was reading Psalm 17 last night, and parts of it struck me as...well, an improper way for Christians to think.

Vs 1: "..my righteous plea...it does not rise from deceitful lips"
3: "...though you test me you will find nothing.."
5: "..My steps have held to your paths, my feet have not slipped"

And so on and so forth.
I interpreted this as King David getting a bit too big for his boots, and saying he is better than all other people/sinners.

I was wondering if I just misinterpreted it, or if I was correct, and if so, is this a good thing or a bad thing for us to be doing/saying to God?

alan here is a really super hard question. ready? hear i go....

When thinking about the story that Jesus told about the different seeds, If someone that recives the holy sprit and you know that they have, is it safe to say that they have a seed that has landed on good soli? or does the holy sprit come onto people sometimes that get eatan, choacked, dried up by satan and the world?

cause yeah my sister is a new christian who is on fire, she has seen god and I believe that the sprit is with her. If so can i say that she is on good soil? i know that mega amounts of pray is needed and that is happening. Just curious if you have anything to say about this.

sorry for a question that is probably impossible to answer but yeah

God bless

Charlie

I have a bit of a question...what should you do when you find yourself becoming very frustrated with another christian?

The verse 'be slow to speak and slow to anger' keeps coming to mind, and I know that as a christian I should not be an 'angry' person.
BUT, I'm not really finding it easy to avoid frustration.

I was wondering if the bible has any advice, or anything you may have from personal experience?

Thanks, Kit.

I have a question about marraige and divorce (which I am not planning on applying anytime soon for the record).

What does the bible say about divorce?
I know it says you should not date or marry a non believer....but what if one person becomes a believer during the course of the marriage?

I was just wondering what you/the bible says.

Thanks!
