About Pat Buchanan
Born in Saginaw, Michigan and moving to Florida as a toddler, Pat Buchanan had an early interest in music and played his first gig in 4th grade. He was raised in Jacksonville, Lake City, and Tallahassee, Florida enjoying music by his parents who were musicians, jazz musicians. So there was always music in the house. His brother was his Rock Guru and a lot of times he and Pat would just play. But then they had several bands, kind of elementary school, one or two, and then junior high. Pat did his earliest recording while in Tallahassee playing on records by local artists.
Moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1981 he wanted to do studio work and this was where everyone said a big boom was going to happen in the music business. Pat played on a few records while living there but ended up doing mostly radio & television jingles while playing around town with his own band, “The Results.” They won the Atlanta battle of the bands in the 80’s and recorded a cassette funded by the radio station 96 Rock. Pat grew tired of the jingle business and decided to break up the band and go as a sideman which he did when his good friend, drummer Sonny Emory, called him for recording with Cameo in 1984. After recording on their record “Word Up” he ventured into the touring industry with Cameo to the U.K. and USA in 1986.
In 1987, Pat was called by his good friend, drummer Sammy Merindino, to record with Hall & Oates in NYC. They did a record for a Japanese artist, Kieske Kuwata, and then recorded on Hall & Oates’ next record, “Ooh Yeah!” He toured Asia and the USA with them during 1987-1990. He also recorded and toured with Cyndi Lauper among others during the late 80’s and early 90’s.
At the urging of Producer Ed Seay, Pat decided to move to Nashville in 1993. He had many friends across the US that had started working there. Pat landed studio work quickly and has been successful as a first call session guitarist for many years playing on many albums including hit records by, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Trace Atkins, Kim Richey, Rodney Crowell, Ray Davis of The Kinks and so many too numerous to list here. Pat also won the 1996 ACM (Academy of Country Music) Guitarist of the Year award.

In 2006 Pat began an association as guitarist for Faith Hill. Having recorded with Faith before and playing some early gigs with her, he and Faith already knew each other. He toured with her in the US & Canada during the summers of 2006 and 2007. During this time he was able to continue session work and is recording on her current new album in progress as well as playing on the current single, Red Umbrella.
