Carpathian's Interests
General
Horror and Dark Fantasy in its varied forms: books, movies, television, art, music, stage and radio drama, and of course simply the telling and sharing of stories with fans and friends.
Music
I am fairly eclectic tastes, and like a little bit of everything. I am, however, partial to Celtic music in all forms, and enjoy Rock and Roll, both the lighter "oldies music and the darker Halloween sounds. Although I have listend to and enjoyed specifically "Goth" music, I have no partiality to any band or songs in particular.
Movies
Ahhh...perhaps far to many to list. here is a VERY partial list: Night Of The Living Dead, Psycho, The Birds, The Exorcist, Curse Of The Demon, The Haunting The Night Stalker The Night Strangler, Rosemary's Baby Duel, Martin, Dawn Of The Dead Scanners, Naked Lunch, Alice Sweet Alice, Alien, Halloween, The Fog (the original), The Beast With Five Fingers Vampyr, Phantom Of The Opera (Lon Chaney), Night Of The Hunter, Wait Until Dark, The Abominable Dr. Phibes The Masque Of The Red Death, The Sixth Sense, Signs, Daughters Of Darkness The Shining, A Clockwork Orange Marathon Man......... I have a particular partiality to the Universal classics, the Hammer films and especially the films of Val Lewton.
Television
Of course the classic The Twilight Zone, but also its 1980s revival; much of Night Gallery and Thriller, The Outer Limits, Kolchack: The Night Stalker, The X-Files (the early seasons), much of Tales Of The Darkside, the original Star Trek and many of its later incarnations, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the early seasons), and many of the 1970s movies of the week with horror themes, particularly Trilogy of Terror, Home For The Holidays, Bad Ronald, Black Noon, The Norliss Tapes, Spectre, The People, A Taste Of Evil, the Jack Palance Dracula and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, the Dan Curtis Frankenstein with Robert Foxworth and Bo Svenson, and the Nigel Kneale television scripts including his Quatermass series.
Books
Ghost Story by Peter Straub, 'Salem's Lot, The Shining and Pet Semetary by Stephen King, I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Martian Choronicles and Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, The Other by Thomas Tyron, Rosemary's Baby and The Boys From Brazil by Ira Levin, Marathon Man, The Princess Bride, Control and Magic by William Goldman...I find myself more partial to short stores by Bradbury, King, Matheson, Harlan Ellison, Clive Barker, Charles Beaumont, and of course misters Poe and Lovecraft.
Heroes
Rather I should say INSPIRATIONS: Ray Bradbury Edward Gorey, Chuck Jones, Harlan Ellison Edgar Allen Poe, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock Nigel Kneale and, outside the genre John Lennon, Groucho Marx, Bill Cosby, Orson Welles, Edward R. Murrow and Bruce Springsteen.
Who I'd like to meet: , Also: Jim Henson, Chuck Jones, Charles Beaumont, Darren McGavin, Dan Curtis...alas, not in this time and place. Perhaps in my next ectoplasmic wanderings...
On the Temporal Plane: Christopher Lee, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, George Romero, David Cronenberg, William Goldman, Clive Barker, Richard Matheson...I've been fortunate enough in my wanderings to have met many people I admire in the Dark Fantasy realm. These include Harlan Ellison, Fritz Lieber, Issac Azimov, Joe Lansdale, Forrest J. Ackerman, Caroline Munroe, Alice Cooper, Kevin McCarthy, Julia Adams, Ray Harryhausen and myriad others...
