Let’s start with this…I consider myself an artist thru and thru.
So, am I truly an artist?
Well, I must say that I love to create, maybe even NEED to create. Always have... always will.
I’ve been creating in different arenas my whole life. I rarely stick to one medium or approach - whether it is in the fine arts with ink, stucco, pencil, paint, pastel, wood, light design or in the business world as an entrepreneur, creative marketing , web layouts, business and sales solutions, whatever – I create, I look for an outlet! Does that make me an artist?
Hell yeah, why not?!!
As a fine artist, I call my form of creation my “flow” because that is exactly what it does – FLOW! Flow and pump right through me like a beating pulse. Sometimes I create with reckless abandon and sometimes I plan my way through, but in the end I know I won’t be able to lay out exactly what is going to transpire. It's best when I’m not even aware of where it comes from, when it seeps through me and washes out my pours...that is when the FLOW is truly working. I find it is always best to relax, sit back, be positive and believe! Shit WILL happen if you aim yourself in the right direction!
BASIC BIO: Here is a zoom-thru bio…..I have been a commissioned artist for endless projects for many years now, (Custom Art Pieces for home/cottage/business/unique products/backdrops/logos/CD covers…etc) created corporate logos and designs and installations, managed bands, started my own record label, worked with radio, worked in the DJ market, designed and run art shows, worked as a Sales & Marketing Manager, toured with bands as a Lighting Director, art-layout design of websites, started and run businesses and much more. On a more personal level….I have been involved with and run local charity events, (Big Brothers/Sisters - Women's Crisis Centre of Waterloo Region) coordinated mass canoe trips, play squash and road trip, eat ice cream, draw EVERYDAY, but most importantly, I have always focused on family and friends, as the other stuff in life may come and go, but it is my relationships that define me and allow me grounding.
My latest full scale project is my zine, THE WANDERING ARTOHOLIC, that I release every couple of months. It's based around me life; daily struggles, ordinariness, adventures, road trips, exotic trips, relational madness, fun stuff, goofy stuff and personal stuff. I also include guest contributors here and there all th3e while chasing BIG DREAMS!
Oh yeah...don't forget juts a truck load of funky ink drawings as I draw the world around me!
