James Lee Burke has always been a hero to me. When I read about how hard it was for him to have his second book published, that he sent it out like 53 times before someone picked it up (and it won an award), I've always felt encouraged. Every time I've wanted to give up in my writing career, I thought of Burke and kept on going.
My dad, who was an Irish cop. I admired his ability to rise each day and walk out the door spit and polish no matter how much he'd partied the night before. My dad was no nonsense when it came to work.

I've had many lives in the past.
Today, I'm content manager for Overcome Everything, Inc. (Tellman Knudson's company).
My hand is on every piece of content that you see coming out of that company, so as you can imagine it's a very busy job, and I love every minute!
I'm a Stomper-trained SEO, so I write code, too. I love computers and all the geeky things about them. Spending my days in front of a screen is exciting and fun, but, you can't do that all day, every day. Right?
So, because I live in Florida, I'm able to swim most of the year, and that's what I do to keep my butt from looking like a pancake. However, at my age, it's a real uphill battle. :-)
And I love lots of people. I have a terrific family--a husband and a daughter, and a group of friends that I share a condominium property with. I know everyone, and am generally lucky to be with people I enjoy and love.
My "work" family is very cool, too. Great folks.
Plus, I have not one, but two male cats, who are learning more about love than they ever wanted to know. It's hard trying to make them brothers.
During my life, I've been these things:
Credit authorizer at Sears
A vending machine company bookkeeper
Assistant manager in a finance company
Business manager in a car dealership
Bank manager where I ran 6 branches at a time.
A mom, which is where my corporate career ended, and my life began.
I started a business with my sister in antiques and collectibles.
I taught crafts in a craft store.
I made dolls.
I painted.
I wrote a novel.
All these things helped me to learn that I'm a writer. I kept writing because it was fun. I wrote for 4 years before I ever had anything in print, but when I sold my first short story for $75, I knew that I would write forever. It just validated my quest. I didn't suck!
I've written 10 hardcover books that you can find at Amazon.com, published by a few different publishers. I used to write biographies for college kids. But...
That doesn't make money. Money is good. But, somehow, I never made back my advance. E-ven though one of my books has been translated into two other languages, I've yet to see a dime in royalties six years later. Isn't that odd?
Well, I decided to take things into my own hands and to come online to sell my books.
I fell in love with Internet Marketing.
I jumped around, trying to find my way for almost 3 years before things magically changed.
Never give up, no matter how hard things seem. Learn everything you can. And keep trying.
I can't tell you how incredibly glad I am that I did.

I read the latest screenplay Tuesday and I thought it was fabulous. Marla has done a fantastic job bringing Sin and Vengeance to life. Now I'm waiting for news about that, too.
