Patrice Helmar is a fifth generation Alaskan. Her mother's family came over from Ireland to build railroads from Skagway into the Yukon territory in Canada. They moved to Juneau in the early 20th Century and brought an upright piano from the Gold Rush days with them.
Patrice started writing and singing songs as soon as she could pull herself up onto the piano seat. She played in the Alaskan Folk Festival for the first time at age nine. Her dad bought her a guitar for her thirteenth birthday and since then it's been her insturment of choice.
Patrice will be traveling around Europe this winter and doing a small solo tour in select cities and towns.

Bonjour Patrice! I am so glad you are enjoying Paris -- not hard to do. I don't know much about it other than I loved it for a weekend. It is hard not to overload in the Louvre. The Musee D'Orsay is also supposed to be awesome - Heather recommends it highly. I loved the metro stops with their amazing signs. First snow of the year today! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into kxll this year - it made a huge difference for the station and for me! Continue having a great time and please keep writing -- also I would love to do some quick "kxll reporter at large" spots from europe! Can I call you or vice versa? ak-diddy
