Patricio Alegre es un destacado músico y periodista chileno, nacido en la ciudad de Antofagasta, el 16 de junio del año 1969, cuando el hombre recién llegaba a la luna.
Su ciudad ubicada en el extremo norte de Chile, lo llevó a ser un conocedor, tanto de las nuevas tecnologías, como de los secretos ancestrales del norte de Chile.
Entre sus diversos galardones figuran, el haber obtenido el Premio Internacional de Música para Niños "Julie Andrews", a la edad de 12 años, en un concurso realizado en Tokio Japón, a comienzo de los años 80, época escolar en que disfrutaba del folclor y la música junto al histórico grupo musical infantil antofagastino llamado Pullay.
Junto a Pullay recorrió múltiples escenarios culturales en los años 80 en su país como el recordado Café del Cerro, el Festival de San Bernardo, entre otros.
También actuó en históricos programas televisivos chilenos, destacando por su versatilidad músical pese a su corta edad. Amigos Siempre Amigos, Festival de la Una, fueron algunos de los escenarios de la pantalla chica que visitó.
Posteriormente, alternando sus estudios de periodismo en la Universidad Católica del Norte en los 90, se adentró en las corrientes musicales de la fusión, el rock y el jazz, nunca dejando de lado sus inicios en el folclore. Su camino como ex integrante del grupo musical chileno Llajta y como ex director musical del Conjunto Folclórico de la Universidad Católica del Norte de Chile, grupo abocado a la proyección, dan cuenta de eso.
En radio tuvo sus primeros pasos a fines de los 80 como productor y conductor del programa la Biblioteca del Jazz de Radio Sol FM y en el "Invitado jazz" de esta misma emisora universitaria, además de su papel en el programa Pop Rock en Vivo.
Como músico ha tenido la oportunidad de telonear a destacados grupos y solistas chilenos como Congreso, a Joe Vasconcellos, Illapu, Los Jaivas, Tito Fernández, Inti Illimani, entre varios otros artistas de renombre a nivel underground, en plena dictadura militar.
En su historia profesional ha sido corresponsal en el norte de Chile para el diario La Tercera y periodista del diario El Mercurio de Antofagasta, además de su paso por Radio Digital de la misma firma El Mercurio en esa ciudad.
Como docente universitario ha sido profesor de la cátedra de Radio de la Escuela de Periodismo de la Universidad Católica del Norte en Chile.
También durante su carrera ha realizado una serie de proyectos tanto musicales como profesionales, realizando asesorías comunicacionales a diversas empresas y prestigiosas instituciones de su país, como la Comisión Nacional del Medio Ambiente, el Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo, el Conace y el Colegio Médico de Chile, siempre junto al destacado tecladista e informático chileno Sergio Uribe Tan (www.myspace.com/sergiouribetan), con quien ha dado vida al proyecto de arte musical sonora Mosaiko (www.myspace.com/mosaikomusica), también es el creador del portal web institucional del Regional Antofagasta del Colegio Médico de Chile www.portadamedica.cl. En el ámbito artístico, tanto como solista, como en diversas agrupaciones musicales, o junto al pianista Sergio Uribe Tan, ha logrado grandes avances desde los 80 hasta nuestros días. Por ello, ha pisado desde muy joven diversos escenarios culturales ligados a la música de fusión, el jazz, la electrónica y la música latinoamericana en Chile, principalmente por su gran calidad como multi- intrumentista y compositor.
Por ello, en más de alguna oportunidad todavía en época de vacaciones tiene la suerte de acompañar a varios músicos de renombre en su país, en diversos escenarios de Chile o en diversas grabaciones y también soundtracks.
Sus grandes amores, además de la música, son su esposa Verónica Araya Darlington, sus hijos Sebastián Alegre y Vicente Alegre y su fallecida madre Gilda Aros, a quienes dedica especialmente su trabajo como músico y periodista.
