i've done a lot of things and been a lot of people in my short time. i love cooperating and interacting with other people. i love words - knowing exactly the right word for a situation, exactly what it means, and from what it has come. i love writing. i love putting the last puzzle piece in and playing cards with my uncles. i love improv theatre, good movies, philosophy, fire fighting, and family. i love the concept of love, as well as the experience. i'm hoping for opportunities of service, betterment, mathematics, and education sometime soon. my vices include the computer and adult swim
and i am a minnesota vikings fan
VIKINGS are just starting a new season, winning their first game. it is especially pleasant that in the NFC North, the only team to lose their first game was the bears - my roommates team. ha.
Movies
i've worked at video stores for three years and a theatre for another, so i've been spoiled (in a negative sense) by saturation of movies of my choice. i've tried (and failed) to maintain a movie collection that is entirely my favorite movies - no random purchases from walmart just because they're $4.88. this is my collection now, excluding tv shows.
My journal, CS Lewis, Thomas Merton, Lewis Thomas, Friedrich Nietzsche
Origin of Species, Charles Darwin; Care of the Soul, Thomas Moore; the Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir; The Four Loves, CS Lewis; TV Guide
But when it comes to great literature, i have to mention the Tommy Basement Times. in my short time at sju, i managed to contribute to its lasting legacy
i just finished serving with the corporation for national and community service. though most of my cohorts and comrades were down in the gulf helping with katrina (by most measures, the largest relief effort of its kind, ever), it seems i may never again leave the state of colorado. i spent two months in chicago this spring helping lower income families and individuals prepare their taxes for free, and since then i have been working with the united states forest service as a wildland firefighter. it's a privilege and an honor to serve my country however she deems appropriate, and i look forward to a lifetime of service to the people around me and to myself.
and i love minnesota
following is the proof that i am capable of behaving like a woman.
