Patrick Dopson has been involved in music ministry since the age of seven when he started playing the drums and singing in the church his dad pastored in Selma, Alabama. As a young child, Patrick knew that his destiny would be ministering to the Lord through music. He would sit for hours on the front pew of the church and watch and listen to every detail as his mom led choir rehearsal. He grew up listening to gospel artists such as Commissioned, The Winans, and various mass choirs, which have all influenced his life.
At the age of 19, Patrick married his wife, Christina. A few months after they were married, he took his first full time position as Worship Leader at a large multi-cultural church, DayStar Family Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Since then, he has served under various ministries as Worship Leader including Pastor Gary Oliver’s Tabernacle of Praise in Fort Worth, TX. Now 30, Patrick and his wife Christina have recently moved to Montgomery, AL and attend New Horizons Church where his father, Gary Dopson, is pastor and his ministry is now based.
He has had the privilege of leading worship and opening for artists such as Pastor Gary Oliver, Pastor Marvin Sapp, and Fred Hammond. He opened at Bishop T.D. Jakes, Potters House, for Fred Hammond's Free to Worship live DVD recording and completed a 25 city “25th Anniversary Tour” with Hammond as well. He has also had the privilege of sharing the stage with other artists such as Israel Houghton, Martha Munizzi, Joann Rosario, Ruben Studdard, Jonathan Slocumb, David Mann (Mr. Brown), Tamela Mann, The Singletons, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Daryl Coley, Stephen Hurd, Micah Stampley, Kenny Latimore, Chante' Moore, Kelly Price, Coko and others. Patrick was recently featured as a soloist on Pastor John P. Kee’s latest album, “Nothing But Worship”.
Patrick’s very heart and soul is to proclaim the goodness of God through the medium of music. Patrick has written numerous anointed praise and worship songs since 1999, some of which have been recorded and are being sung in churches across the nation. Patrick also contributed as a writer and singer on Fred Hammond's Grammy Award-winning release titled "Free To Worship".
Patrick’s style of worship has an urban / gospel feel. God has placed a special anointing for praise and worship on his life to tear down racial, cultural, generational, and denominational barriers, to deliver a powerful uncompromising message to people both in and outside of the church.
Patrick founded Oilonit Music in 2003, a publishing and production label. He recently signed with Bajada Records, Straight Gate’s Bishop Andrew Merritt’s label based in Detroit, MI. Plans are underway for the release of Patrick’s album debut produced by Noel Hall and himself in 2009.

When times get tough, don’t be surprised if you feel a heaviness trying to overwhelm you. Don’t be surprised if you hear negative thoughts telling you, “It’s never going to work out. Things are never going to get better. It’s over. It’s done.” When those thoughts come, remember, you have a choice—you don’t have to believe those lies. You don’t have to get on board with your emotions. In the Bible, David encountered many difficult situations. That spirit of heaviness tried to steal his destiny. He got depressed and discouraged, but do you know what he did? He started talking to himself. He said, “Why are you cast down, oh my soul? Put your hope in the Lord.” He was saying, “David, snap out of it! Why are you discouraged? Why have you lost your joy? God is still on the throne, and He still has good things in store.” When that heaviness tries to come on you, do what David did. As you put your trust in the Lord and praise Him, He’ll give you His strength and empower you to overcome every obstacle you may face!
Prayer for Today Father in heaven, thank You for the strength to overcome the difficult times. I choose to shake off the spirit of heaviness by praising and worshiping You. I bless You today and always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

What is it in your life that you used to be excited about? Are there dreams that you’ve pushed down, goals that you’ve let go of? Too often, because those dreams seem to be taking a long time, or because we’ve been through some disappointments, we become complacent. It’s easy to just accept the fact that “it’s probably not going to happen for me.” But just because you gave up doesn’t mean God gave up. God never aborts a dream. He always fulfills His promises! That dream He placed in your heart may be pushed down by disappointments, setbacks, failures, or rejection. But know this; the seed is still alive. The promise is still in you. You just need to get your fire back! That dream may look like it’s dead in the ground, but really, it’s just been planted. That means it’s coming back. It’s going to flourish! Our attitude should be “This may be taking a long time, and maybe I don’t see how it could happen, but I know God already has the completion date. I’m not going to give up on my dreams. I’m not going to go through life without goals, passion, or enthusiasm. No, I’m getting my vision back because I know God fulfills His promises!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to me! I ask that You breathe life into every dream and desire in my heart. I trust You with the unknowns and believe that You are working all things out for my good. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
