The bad intentions are influenced by the vague hope that Patrick will pay them some money, and by the whip he uses during rehearsals to make them do what he says.
Patrick Freyne and His Bad Intentions are in the development stages at the moment so they don't want to be too specific about how they sound, but they use various stringed instruments, toy instruments, and electronic beats, and they all like to sing.
If you want an idea of where they are coming from, Patrick Freyne used to play art-rock with the NPB and country duets with El Diablo, and between the two bands he has released five albums and 8 singles/EPs on the Catchy Go Go Label www.catchygogorecords.com
He has toured with the Handsome Family and the Willard Grant Conspiracy and played with Goldfrapp, Calexico, Gorky's Zygotic Mynkie, the D4, Snow Patrol, the Frames, and lots of other bands he can't remember.
All that is merely the musical CV with which he tries to impress people. It rarely works. Most people say: " Well how come I've never heard of you?" which hurts his feelings.
Patrick Freyne and his Bad Intentions like independent music, seventies country rock, metal, low-fi music and Girls Aloud.
They also like talking to people, country walks, books on history, books on psychology, organising things alphabetically, crisp dry winter mornings, making lists, George Hook, cottages in Wales, drinking coffee, drinking tea, drinking beer, drinking whiskey, drinking water, going for drives, singing around the house, and radio 4.
Patrick Freyne and his Bad Intentions all met while doing a masters in Music and Media Technology in Trinity College. This made them very pragmatic and self-sufficient. Like the A-Team they all have individual specialities which I won't go into here.
The Bad Intentions are in alphabetical order:
Jack Cawley (Bitter Little Cowboy),
Les Keye (Wilde Oscars),
Eoin Mac Ionmhain (Calico Jak),
and Frances Mitchell (NPB).
It's a raw rootsy affair with 11 new songs including the singles Women Around Here, 45 and Sweet Angel.
Downloads and CD's are available from cdbaby. com CD's are available mail order from theracketeers. com From April the album will be out in record shops in Germany on Cannery Row Records and by then it will also be available digitally from the usual outlets such as iTunes, Amazon etc...

Well in an idle moment I decided to record a cover of Aerosmith’s classic power ballad ‘What It Takes’ (from their 1989 album Pump, also featuring such immortal cuts as ‘Young Lust’ and ‘Love In An Elevator’). This isn’t some kind of knowing, ironic cover like when a band does a Britney Spears song or something – I genuinely love the song (well, I used to anyway), although I have attempted to divest it of some of its undeniable cheesiness. Mind you there’s only so much you can do with lines like “Your love made me a prisoner, yes my heart’s been doin’ time”…
This will probably be up on the myspace page for only a short time as, technically speaking, we don’t have Aerosmith’s *actual* permission to use it. I’m also told this type of thing runs contrary to some kind of arcane myspace regulation…?
For the purposes of comparison here is the original in all its big-haired glory, complete with one of the greatest (by which I mean shittest) videos ever:
Hey there PF & HBI, hope you are all well. We have a new song up - "Dogs", a chilling tale of canine revenge. Unusually for a My Pilot tune, it's quite upbeat and even has a discernible tune. Check it out if you have a spare 3 minutes 40 seconds.
Given that current technological difficulties dictate that we can record no new music, a “new” old song has been posted. Just a demo really but if you like seven minute long, funereal slowcore dirges then you may just dig it. It’s called ‘This Desert Life’.
Hi Patrick! See ye know Leslie Keye as well. I actually first heard Leslie playing from behind his bedroom door when he was 19 and he's the reason I ended up a godforsaken slave to music. Which is a good thing, I guess...
