Patrick Lindsey / Voodooamt (Funkwelle.net, Trackland.net, Terminal M)
Even Patrick Lindsey himself had no clue about the massive impact of his funky groovin functional sound within the electronic music-scene when he established his new record label “Funkwelle” in January 2007!
Lindsey..s philosophy of “Techno to be freedom” is not only his personal source to produce high quality club-sound as a Producer, DJ or Live-Act but is also highly regarded among well-known artists. For instance, Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia, one half of the legendary djing and producing duo “Deep Dish”, produced “Funkwelle”-release No.4 which also includes a Voodooamt-remix by Patrick Lindsey of the “Roadkill”-track. Moreover Dubfire, completely amazed by Lindsey..s promo-vinyl “Das böse Brett”, has decided to publish the track on his own label “SCI+TEC” although it appears as “Funkwelle”-release No.6 at the same time.
Another collaboration has been established with highly respected artist Alexander Kowalski which aims at producing Kowalski..s newest album (release date: 2009).
His home studio expanded: an Amiga and further equipment joined the C64 quickly. When Lindsey's tracks were played during "Clubnight", a show on the Frankfurt radio station HR 3, he was fairly stunned. Shortly afterwards he presented his demo to the Frankfurt cult label Harthouse, which made some of his friends laugh at him since they wouldn't give his music any chance. But the crew around Sven Vaeth was convinced and signed a few tracks of which the most popular were "Male Phonk" on the legendary Harthouse 100 compilation and those on his "Phat Jive" EP.
Patrick Lindsey is not that kind of artist who likes to hide behind the mixing-console performing isolated. It..s about his friendly and extroverted personality always trying to be as close as possible to the crowd constantly motivated to rock the “house” with them together. Lindsey..s DJ-style is defined by precise mixing, endless transitions and perfect arranged “cuts” and “effect-sequences”.
In 2002, the project “Bad Pimps” came into existence where Lindsey and is Belgium friend Stanny Franssen a.k.a. G-Force primarily focusing on mixing techno-tracks with other music influences like “Chicago or Booty-House, James Brown, Herbie Hancock or the Beastie Boys, to name just a few. 3 turntables, 3 laptops, 2 cd-players plus the necessary live-act-equipment create an extraordinary party-feeling where both the djing- and live-act-component are performed as one harmonious flow resulting in a fresh experience with a huge portion of “funk”.
It doesn..t play a role if Patrick Lindsey is performing as a solo-artist (since 1994) or as a team-player: He wants to deliver a unique show demonstrating his well-developed skills in the field of hard- and software, night by night.
Everything started up with a “C64” at Bad Nauheim. Together with his former classmate Anthony Rother, Patrick Lindsey gained his first computer experience and fulfilled his dream of “self-made produced music.” In 1994, he already published the very first release on Heiko Laux.. label “Kanzleramt” and also released on the legendary Frankfurt based “Harthouse”-label. Two years later, he had his personal breakthrough with “Malephonk” (Harthouse No. 100) and “Phonkschool” on “School Records” which is the inofficial forerunner of his current label “Funkwelle”. Monika Kruse recognized his outstanding feeling for synthetic generated music and both had an intense collaboration lasting from 1997 till 2006. Throughout this span he published under his pseudonym “Voodooamt”, an allusion to his “Kanzleramt”-past, several “Terminal M”-releases and also got to know Gregor Tresher with whom he released two EPs. Additionally, he had further releases on labels like DJ Good Groove..s prestigious “Frisbee”-label and keeps closely in touch with the label “Kaufe Musik” from Frankfurt where he delivered two remixes so far with other releases still to come.
“Techno-enthusiast” Patrick Lindsey places special emphasis on the “Rock..n..Roll”-aspect in order to be able to transfer pure fun into the club-scene!
