  • Bio

Guitar lovers everywhere follow Patrick McLaughlin, the guitarist's guitar player, who brings unique musicianship and electrifying songwriting to the blues experience. Patrick McLaughlin, a blues/rock guitarist/vocalist from Columbus, Ohio, has led a band of his own for the past ten years. The current line up has been together for the last year. Backing up Patrick in the rhythm section are from Harlem, New York, Gary Williams on drums, and from Memphis, Tennessee, Molly Young on bass. Gary is a veteran musician that has traveled throughout the United States and Canada performing with various well-known groups. Molly has played in numerous groups touring primarily in the southern United States. "The songs simply pop, as vivid and alive as songs should be-yet rarely are-in a genre called "electric blues." He isn't reinventing the wheel, but honestly, no one out there in music is. What he's doing is salvaging a genre of music that has been overplayed into irrelevancy, and making it special again. This one's a keeper!" -Rick Allen. LOCAL ROUNDUP: Audrey & Orwell, Blueprint, Patrick McLaughlin, Miller-Kelton. Other Paper. April 7, 2011 Patrick McLaughlin plays original guitar based blues/rock fusion music. His style influences range from classic blues material, to hints of jazz, soul, and R&B. His self-titled debut was carefully composed to be enjoyed by a diverse listener. The songs were all written from personal experiences, and tell universally understood stories. The album was recorded at Sonic Lounge Studios, and features all original material. Special appearances from guitarist Chris Skrobot (track 6). Songwriting partnerships with Will Freed (track 4), among others. Patrick McLaughlin delivers a unique style reminiscent of Robert Cray, with diverse sounds, and hook filled lyrics. Excitement builds with each track, and every pass through the album uncovers new musical discoveries. Like a good book, you can't put down. This album is guaranteed to be a favorite in your music collection. Live performances include opening for many headlining groups, most recently Tommy Castro, Blood Sweat and Tears, Bobby Parker, Bettye LaVette, and many more. Audience members are always delighted by the richness of the musical performance, especially coming from a three piece group! Past albums that Patrick has contributed to are: • Long Tall Deb & The Drifter Kings "Diamonds on the Desert Floor" 2009; 2011 IBC Best Self Produced CD Finalist [*Patrick McLaughlin Co-Writer on "Free To Leave"- Track 2, "Hey Honey"- Track 3, "House On Fire"- Track 10] • "Blues for a Cure" Compilation 2008, "Blues for a Cure Christmas" Compilation 2008 • Kathy Wolfe and Wolfhound *Co-Producer ["Songs of Men and other Pastimes" 2002] • Richard P. Boals and the Soals - Growlin Bare Records ["Live at the Dolphin" 2001, "Access Denied" 2000, "On a Different Path" 1999, "Pieces of the Eclipse" 1998] Fans can also catch Patrick on local blues radio programs and Internet radio stations. The Patrick McLaughlin CD is available through his website, High Tone Music Group website, and a number of online digital retailers including ITunes. To socially connect with Patrick, visit Facebook, MySpace, Reverbnation, and Twitter. A special monthly newsletter is sent out to subscribers that includes past events of note, future performances, and fun trivia. Patrick McLaughlin looks to writing material to follow the first CD release. Continuing to collaborate with other songwriters, and exploring musical avenues that may be non-traditional blues forms give the future music a creative edge. Touring the country will bring the album to life through live performance experiences. "Here is where Patrick should have been all along, just great guitar and a simple approach letting each song shine with it's own message. I knew he was hearing something in his head that he had to make his own!!!" -Richard P. Boals. February 9, 2011.

    Greets!

I just wanted to stop by and say Hey, and that I do local music reviews
for Columbus and various spots of Ohio. My blog/site is relatively new,
but I'm about to write up tons of reviews on band's CD's and Concerts.
While I'm at it, I'll be reviewing the Venues/Bars, also.

If you'd like to get your package or show reviewed, refer to: http://columbusmusicreview.blogspot.com

    Thanks for your time!

Hey, my music lovin friend! I will be at ACL! Ive got new songs!
    -Ruby Jane
Ruby Jane is a 15 year-old "otherworldly powerhouse" of talent. The fiddle prodigy, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist is rapidly winning fans and warming hearts while writing today's American music. She is the REAL DEAL, called "Austin's Artist to Watch." Born in Texas, spent her early years in Mississippi, and now back in Texas,
Ruby Jane has absorbed the best and deepest roots music that America has to offer and has a natural way of making songs that are her very own from those roots. Her songs and her show are so appealing that her fans are music lovers of pop,
rock, folk and of all generations. She has been a charismatic bandleader since the age of ten in her own band called The Ruby Jane Show which not only features her amazing fiddling but her mature songwriting, multi-instrumentality, and entertaining stage show. Ruby Jane stars in a new tv pilot, Swinghouse, which showcases her music and her acting abilities.

On June 14, 2010 we will be accepting submissions from artists interesting in performing in front of 25 to 50 representatives from the 4 Major Recording Labels and several of the top Independent Record Labels.

This will occur over two consecutive weekends. One weekend in New York and one weekend in Los Angeles over two days that will feature 15 of the top bands selected to perform each night at one location. In doing it this way every band that performs WILL BE SEEN by ever representative attending. Unlike SXSW and other such music conferences where if you’re not at the one or two locations where all the label representatives hang out, you’ll ever be seen, and it was a complete waste of your time and money.

NO COST or FEES, other than the artist’s own travel expenses. Compete details and submission procedures shall be posted on our MySpace page June 14, 2010. WE SHALL NOT ACCEPT ANY SUBMISSIONS UNTIL THAT DATE.

And here is why we are committing a considerable amount of time and resources to this opportunity:

Sonicbids is an Artist and Promoters Worst Nightmare

Recently we began a trial usage of Sonicbids’ service for our artist and band searches.

As a result of that test it became clear that Sonicbids is all about earning money at the expense of artists looking to break through the wall that surrounds the music industry.

Based on our experiences from both the perspective of artists we are associated with seeking to benefit from opportunities offered though Sonicbids. As well as from the perspective of promoters searching for talent through Sonicbids service.
