BIOGRAFIA
Nata a Catania ma residente in Veneto , Patrizia Laquidara e’ cantante , autrice e in piu’ occasioni ha lavorato come performer . Nel 1998 vince una borsa di studio presso il CET, Centro Europa di Toscolano, di Mogol, per il corso autori ed interpreti sulla musica popolare veneta e lombarda e si classifica prima tra i selezionati. Nel 2002 riceve tre riconoscimenti al Premio Città di Recanati : " premio della critica, migliore interpretazione e migliore musica". Nel 2003 vince il premio della critica e il premio per la migliore interpretazione al Festival di Sanremo. Nel 2006 viene invitata come ospite alla Rassegna Premio Tenco . Rappresenta la Voce femminile italiana alla rassegna internazionale di musica etnica e contemporanea “Suoni dell’altro mondo” , dove collabora con musicisti di fama internazionale quali , tra gli altri, Ben Mandelson, Guo Yue, Wu Fei, Nikola Parov, Umberto Petrin, ecc. Nel 2007 vince il premio Maschera D’oro come “Cantante di musica popolare” consegnato dal Conservatorio “G.B. Martini” di Bologna , la cooperativa Primafila e Imae per la valorizzazione del patrimonio musicale nazionale . Sempre nel 2007 il suo album “Funambola” si e’ classificato tra i primi cinque candidati per l’album piu’ bello dell’anno al Premio Tenco. Patrizia ha inciso tre album :” Para voce querido Cae” (anno 2000, etichetta Velut Luna) in lingua portoghese l’album “Indirizzo Portoghese” (anno 2003 prodotto da Pasquale Minieri) che contiene anche “per causa d’amore” cantata con Mario Venuti e l’album “Funambola” (anno 2006, produttori artistici Arto Lindsay e Patrick Dillet). Quest’ultimo contiene anche la canzone “ Noite e luar”, di cui è co-autrice ,che è parte della colonna sonora del film Manuale d’amore 1 di Veronesi. Ai dischi hanno partecipato musicisti quali Rita Macotulli, Fausto Mesolella, Marco Siniscalco Michele Rabbia e Javier Girotto, Ben Perowsky, Mauro Refosco, Thomas Bartlett, Smokey Horlem, Paolo Buonvino, Arancia Sonora. E’ cantante e attrice nelle commedie musicali “Storia di Milonga” e “L’Orco” dove si esibisce insieme ad Antonella Ruggiero e Gio’ di Tonno accompagnata dall’orchestra del teatro olimpico di Vicenza.. Si e’ esibita in importanti festival in Italia e all’estero (Manchester, Lussemburgo, Polonia, Ecuador, Brasile, Spagna, Francia) . Si esibisce anche col gruppo Hotel Rif, ricercando , rielaborando e poi riproponendo il repertorio tradizionale di vari paesi del bacino del mediterraneo . Collabora con lo storico e scrittore Emilio Franzina in due conferenze-spettacolo: “Veneto Transformer”(riflessioni in parole e musica sulle migrazioni e sulle metamorfosi del nordest) e “Storie di storia” . Propone insieme a Debora Petrina lo spettacolo “Come Nuove” , lavoro di ricerca e di rielaborazione vocale e musicale di canzoni soprattutto della tradizione veneta. Nello spettacolo "Creuza de Luna", Patrizia Laquidara accompagnata da quattro musicisti intreccia le canzoni di Garcia Lorca con la polifonia del rinascimento spagnolo , il tango di piazzolla con il fado e a canzone napoletana con i classici brasiliani. Da marzo 2008 sara' la voce nello spettacolo e cd "Cristiani di Allah" , spettacolo ideato e scritto da Massimo Carlotto.

BIOGRAPHY
Born in Sicily (Italy’s most southern island) and brought up in Veneto (deep north) she’s definitely an uncommon vocal and songwriting talent.
She won a bursary for composers and singers for folk music of Venice and Lombardy at Mogol’s school CET and following that experience, she leaves for a trip to South America in search of inspiration and she suddendly finds herself singing one of her early tracks “Essenzialmente” (Essentially) on Brazilian radio.

Back in Europe this untyring traveller is off one more time to Spain with her band, Hotel Rif, going north to south playing her music in streets, squares and underground stations. She then starts her first concerts in traditional music festivals in Spain but also back to Italy.

With a strong passion for Brazilian music, Patrizia pays her personal tribute to Caetano Veloso by recording a collection of his tracks which become her first album “Para voce querido cae” (2001) , collaborating with, amongst others, artists such as Paolo Birro, Sasaki Marumo and Marco Trezza’s string orchestra.

In 2002 she receives three awards (critics, best performance and best music) at the Premio Città di Recanati (the best know festival for new quality music in Italy) for the song “Agisce” (“It acts”) , composed with songwriter Bungaro.

In 2003, competing in the “newcomers” section of the Sanremo Festival, with the song “Lividi e Fiori” (“Brusises and flowers”), she gains more awards from the critics for “best song” and “best performance”.
In the same year she releases her second album “Indirizzo Portoghese” (“Portoguese address”)

Since then media start calling her “quarta tribalista” (fourth tribalista)
The songs of the record, produced by Pasquale Minieri (with special guests such as Javier Girotto from Aires Tango, Fausto Mesolella from Avion Travel and Rita Marcotulli) have a taste of sun…and sound relaxing and malinchonic at the same time.

Highlights from the album (written in collaboration with her trusted guitar player Tony Canto) are the duet with famous singer/songwriter Mario Venuti “Per Causa D’Amore” (“For cause of love”), and the intense interpretation of Tomas Mendez’s “Cu cu rru cu cu’ Paloma”, as additional proof of her unconditional love for the sounds of the southern emisphere.

In 2005 she composed and recorded, together with awarded film music composer Paolo Buonvino, the song “Noite e Luar” (“Moonlight”) which was the main track of the blockbuster film “Manuale d’Amore” (Love Manual) directed by Giovanni Veronesi. The track was nominated for the David di Donatello (the Italian Oscar) as “best song”

In 2006, after the film was released in Spain, she re-recorded a new version of the song in a duet with the higly acclaimed Spanish singer Carlos Nunez.
She then partecipates at the “Premio Tenco” in Sanremo with a standing ovation from the audience for her performance of a Bruno Lauzi song (to whom the festival was dedicated last year).

After this Patrizia puts a stand by on her live activity as she leaves for the U.S.A in order to record her third album. It includes songs especially written for her by some of the most interesting new talents of the italian music scene: Pacifico, Giulio Casale, Kaballà and Joe Barbieri. The album hasl been produced artistically by Arto Lindsay and Patrick Dillett and executively by Titti Santini of Ponderosa Music & Art.

“Funambola”(“tight-rope walker”), this is the title, will be released in Italy on April 13th, 2007
