Pat's Place is a pizzeria and pub in Americus, Georgia. The location on South Lee Street was once the town of Leeton, Georgia which was chartered away from Americus in 1872 and named after the American Civil War General Robert E. Lee. Then Leeton reincorporated into Americus in 1885, keeping the name Leeton for years afterward. In 1888, the United States Army used lot where Pat’s Place is now for a camp during the Spanish-American War. In 1969, an electronics store was built on the lot, followed by businesses called The Yellow Submarine and The Crust and Mug. In 1980 history took over again when Pat Spann and his wife Judy bought the building and opened Pat’s Place that February.
It has become a favorite spot in later years as a music venue, and around the turn of the century hosted a nationally noted poetry slam series.
''...They both seem like wonderful people, and outside of my mother I’ve never seen a better host than Pat, who was dining at his place with his extended family, and rarely sat for more than 5 minutes, getting up to take care of them and the rest of the patrons, making sure drinks were full and smiles were present. - from [1]...''
Enjoyed performing for y'all last night, the stage area has a great aura, as the pic shows... reading your menu now on the history of Leeton, the Yellow Submarine backstory, et cetera from your menu, and visualizing this.
