PAT STRONG TRIO + 1 FEATURING PAT STRONG, TERRI STEINBERG, LISA COSGROVE, & CASEY PAPAC
Influences
PAT'S INFLUENCES:
When I was 8 years old, I saw Tommy Sands on TV singing and playing guitar, and from that time on all I could talk about was wanting a guitar. I got one for Christmas and started taking lessons that same year. I also learned a little piano and played Violin for a few years in school, but for me, nothing could take the place of my guitar. In my teenage years, Peter, Paul and Mary were a great influence along with John Denver and Karen Carpenter. As time passed I became more interested in the new Country singers like Tricia Yearwood, Martina McBride, and Terri Clark. Today, I still like all the folk and country I did in the past but am more and more interested in Jazz. I love everything Diana Krall does. Music is a big part of my life and I look forward to retirement so I can spend more time doing what I love. Pat Strong
CASEY'S INFLUENCES:
I've always liked Judy Collins and Leonard Cohen-great song writer. Crosby, Stills & Nash are a favorite, love their harmonies! Of course, the Beatles are never to be equaled; the "I Am Sam" movie had great versions of their songs done by other artists.
Van Morrison is also a prolific song writer, my husband and I have all his CD's and never tire of him. In addition, I like Peter Paul & Mary, Richard and Mimi Farina, James Taylor, Jackson Brown, Indigo Girls, KD Lang, Nora Jones, Diana Krall, Kate Wolf, Linda Rondstadt, Kathy Matteo, The Byrds, Simon & Garfunkel, Eagles, & Neil Young. Casey Papac
Pat Strong, the leader of the Pat Strong Trio +1, is a Registered Nurse. She has lived in Tehachapi since 1987, and works for Optimal Home Health and Hospice Services. Pat has been playing guitar and singing since she was eight years old. She has recently started writing her own songs. Her favorite is “Come Sit on My Porch” which is featured on the group’s latest CD (also the title of the CD). It beautifully describes life living in the four seasons of Tehachapi. The CD features another favorite entitled “The Winding Road”, which inspires us to take our time on the road in life and appreciate nature’s many gifts.
Terri Steinberg, a soprano in the group, is a Nurse Practitioner and has resided in Tehachapi since 1995. Terri learned to play guitar and harmonica from her father during her early childhood, and has been singing since grade school. She also plays a mean banjo. Multi-talented, she has written, arranged, and directed musical productions in Bakersfield. Pat and Terri started singing together about 2 years and, and discovered they love many of the same songs.
Lisa Cosgrove joined the group about a year ago, making it a Trio. A native Californian, she has lived in Tehachapi around 3 years. Lisa plays numerous instruments such as drums, guitar, and bass. She has played in various bands over the years, mostly as a drummer. She enjoys playing the bass guitar in the group, as evidenced by her smiling face and energetic manner; she definitely adds a lot to the mix.
Casey Papac, the +1, joined the group about 1 year ago. She blends her alto harmony with Pat and Terri for an appreciated depth of sound. She has sung in choirs and with friends throughout her life, and loves to sing harmony. Casey has enjoyed life in Tehachapi for over 7 years; it reminds her fondly of when she lived in Connecticut. She has a background in industrial sales and sales management, and has recently retired in order to have more time to sing, RV travel, paint watercolors, and play her ukulele.
The group’s music, classified as “easy listening”, is sung with three-part harmony, and includes folk, ballads, jazz, originals and oldies in a mix that all ages enjoy. They perform every fourth Saturday of the month at the Apple Shed from 5:00 P.M. through 8:00 P.M., where folks may enjoy the music along with their delicious dinner and dessert. The group is available for parties and other functions, and is also heard around town at various events such as the Mountain Festival, local wine tasting events, and the Farmer’s Market. Three different CD’s are available for $10.00 each, wherever they play.
Pat and Casey perform every Tuesday at the Wine Cellar in Tehachapi from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
