PLEZHURHOUSE is made up of two members. Patty Plezur and J Lektro (www.myspace.com/jlektro). (www.PLEZHURHOUSE.com www.myspace.com/pattyworld) Together they transform electronic sounds and beats into musical form.
Back in the day when the house scene was hot and heavy in Chicago Patty hung out at places like The Warehouse, Power Plant, Smart Bar, Medusas, Metro,The Phoenix. It was at these places where her love of dance music and house music was spawned and she longed to be able to be amongst her favorite DJ heroes pumping out some crazy dance beats not just dancing to them . House music was her passion now. Having an interest in music video production also she decided to try to acquire the knowledge of the music business on her own. She began to work with a local one stop music store owner here Sue Adams helping to promote her daughter who was at the time promoting Raven Symone and from there began to help out promoting for major record labels and artists when they were in town.
Eventually she tired of waiting on artists to do her music for her, so being a self starter began putting on her own local talent showcases and inviting the local labels to come. Patty has also modeled professionally for over 15 years(www.myspace.com/pattyworld)doing both local and national print and billboard, local television commercials and some voiceover work locally. Plezhurhouse recently made a guest appearance on Chris Devins Hot Wax TV.
~~~J a.k.a. J LEKTRO is the other half of the duo and takes care of the technical and engineering part of the music.J Lektro is the new kid on the block. He was given the name J Lektro by his mom when she decided to christen him with a name that would give props to his skills with anything electronically oriented. Being a tekkie since near birth J has been using a computer since he was two years old. J attends selective enrollment highschool in downtown Chicago.
Possessing major knowledge of computer software (and also the computer being second nature for J), the world of electronic music was just the arena for this talented teen. J’s mom has been writing her own lyrics and had some music already produced of her own but needed help with final production. It took a visit from a friend and well known producer Joe Smooth *we thank him* to bring over a music software program to his mom (well Mom was a little swamped with her schedule and was taking a little too long to learn the programs so she decided it was best for J to learn). It didn’t take long for J, 12 years old at the time, to get the party started. That was 3 years ago and J has not looked back since. J does most of his mothers music now and also works on some production and engineering with DJ Ellery Cowles.
J took to music programs like a fish to water. Later another special friend in their lives, Paul Barry a.k.a. Lord of Crows a DJ/producer from Italy and the UK, introduced J Lektro to Ableton Live and since then J has taken off. He has been gaining knowledge in many other music software programs and has proven he has the talent and skills as he is self taught. J is also teaching himself to spin on CDJs. He is now being asked to spin at local school campus events.
J Lektro comes from a rich musical background. J's grandad was a popular R&B singer in the 1950's with the Chess Records label. J’s uncles are musicians. J’s grandma had one of the most beautiful soprano voices around and sang for almost twenty years in church choirs. One of J Lektro’s closest family friends,one of J's mentors, is a jazz musician who performs locally in a band around the Chicago area. Jamian’s dad is an up and coming R & B vocalist.
J Lektro's mom is also an avid vinyl collector and exposed J to many forms of music including rock, r&b, dance, pop, reggae, classical, gospel, blues, new age, rap and disco. J’s roots span many musical genres and eras of music through his bloodline. What else could J have turned out to be but an aspiring artist?
Awhile ago J was also exposed to the underground world of techno and other progressive forms of music by his mom’s association with another DJ/producer making a name for himself in the Chicago area Kamil P of The Influence and Drugaci Exhibitions. It is through this hookup that J had begun learning how to spin vinyl. Fascinated by Kamil’s skills on three turntables J vowed to put another task in tow. J’s mom, Patty of their production team, Plezhurhouse has now formed an alliance with some other well known DJs, Steve Poindexter, Ellery Cowles, Corey Rogers, Taigo and also a musician Larry Overton of the local band “The Original” Coldsweat. Larry has helped J out tremendously on his road to becoming an accomplished producer and has lended much support to both mom and J Lektro.
It looks like J Lektro will be in good hands as he continues on his journey. J Lektro has begun doing mixes and spins at house parties locally and is already being asked by some internet stations for his mixes. He is now being asked to spin at local school campus events. J's track Robotic Warriors was voted as one of the winners in the lineup in the weekly contest for Pete Tong's Bedroom Bedlam, an internet show out of the UK. By adulthood—who knows where this young shooting star will land !!
