About me:
A forest spirit now firmly re-embedded in babble-on. City life is going ok, though I'm mainly working on finding ways to live out of the city in the near future.
I still get to spend a lot of time floating up and down the east coast of australia for parties and festivals - sunshine coast, northern nsw, melbourne and cairns are all 2nd homes to me and i wish i had longer time to spend there.... Big ups to all the crews up and down the east coast!
My time mainly gets taken up by web programming work, lecturing multimedia at CQU, djing at bush parties and the occasional indoor gig, organising outdoor music/landcare events through subterran, getting out bush when i can, and currently working on a progressive techno compilation for open records.

Bio:::
Paul Abad is a dj, promoter, producer, visual artist and community activator based in South East
Queensland, Australia. He has been part of the local music scene since 1998 and is now a regular on the east coast festival circuit. The width of his experience sees him play everything from outdoor festivals to
experimental/sound art gigs to warehouse breaks/glitch nights.
After years of exploring a variety of electronic genres in his sets, leaving a trail of wide-opened minds and
ears behind him, Paul has shifted his focus to exploring the middle ground of minimal, tribal techno and progressive, and has quickly positioned himself as one of the leading exponents of this sound in Australia. Tool of choice these days is laptop with Ableton live and a controller, ensuring a seamless and creative approach to mixing. Flow, groove, space and progression are key themes in paul's sets, but of primary importance is the mix - recombining and layering, and responding to an audience.
2007 saw Paul join Cairns label Open Records team, with the intention of bring more techno and minimal focus to the label. Since then, work has begun on a progressive techno compilation with label mate Solatek, with a planned release date of mid 2009.
Despite his current focus on main-floor progressive techno, Paul's repertoire is still broad, covering khouse, dub-tech, zen ambience and glitch/sound art, and he can occasionally be found dropping sets of these styles.
Paul has played main-stage sets up and down the coast of Australia - for rainbow serpent, earthcore, cairns winter solstice, exodus, earth freq, melbourne winter solstice, regrowth, freakreation, nimbin mardi-grass doof, mind over matter and submerge. Other festivals he has played at include akasha, woodford folk festival, liquid architecture, west end festival, this is not art etc.
He has been chosen to support important acts such as Future Sound of London/Amorphous Androgynous, Tipper, Dj Krush, Monolake, Maetrik, Richard Devine, Adam Beyer, Deadbeat, Jeremy P Caulfield, Mark Henning, Phoenecia, Bernd Friedman, Antix, Perfect Stranger, Tegma, Talpa, Phoney Orphants, Luna Spice, Bufo, Krumeler, Kazu Kimura, Thomas Brinkman, Aes Dana, Talpa, Haltya, Artax, Sun Control Species, Sensient, Spoonbill, MZO etc.
Paul is active as a promoter also - after having been involved in staging outdoor music events since 2001, in 2005 he launched Subterran, an events org focused on outdoor enviro/electronic music events. Subterran has a solid list of events under its belt now and more to come. Subterran is the key body behind the annual Earth Freq Festival.
2009 is set to be his biggest year yet, but may also see dj work take a backseat to production as the itch to produce his own flavour of mainfloor techno and subversive k-house becomes intolerable!
Sometimes i see myself as everything.
I call that love.
Sometimes i see myself as nothing.
I call that wisdom.
Between love and wisdom my life flows.
-Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Reality is what comes next after now, not in time, but as a manifestation of the directed flow of conscious energy which we are.
-Steven Harrison
Everything that you learn about the world tells you how your brain works also, enabling you to perceive yourself in that which you consider not you. A thorough understanding of this procedure will enable you to change the world by changing yourself.
