About me:
I run a small drum n bass record label called Nerve Recordings (site is at http://www.nerverecordings.co.uk - Myspace seems to always screw the link when I use a href tag) and also work for a media company on the old 9-5, working on the music website.
As a dj, I've been playing out for over 12 years at a whole manner of wild n wonderful places, from a disused slaughterhouse in Vienna to a boutique clothes shop in New York via pretty much every club in Scotland. I've played to small crowds, large crowds and no crowds - ranging from over 2000 people at Newcastle Uni (for Turbulence) to around 5 people at the Brunswick Hotel in Glasgow at 6AM one Sunday morning.
I co-ran the monthly LiveVEvil event at the Glasgow School of Art from 2000-2005 and am now resident at Xplicit, Scotland's biggest drum n bass night with residencies at the Bongo Club and Potterow in Edinburgh and various guest spots elsewhere.
As a producer I put out quite a lot of drum n bass material in the early 2000s including material on the legendary Trouble on Vinyl and Underfire Records. Alongside a whole host of breaks material on Nerve Breaks (the defunct sister label of Nerve) and various other breaks labels. I don't really produce anymore and concentrate more on the dj'ing, the day job, running Nerve and trying not to piss off the wife too much.
Aye! My first ever DnB night...What an intro!!... U do much in Glasgow nowadays? I hardly ever get out as coursework/placements take up all my time. That and the fact I'm uber broke. It's all good though. Bring out the cd every once in a while - always goes down a treat. :)
U doin the set? YALDAAAY!!! What was once fear has now been replaced with pure intense excitement! lol u takin requests? see you then!
"The beast that is Pangea returns in September, for the next installment from Glasgow's biggest drum and bass night. A favourite among both drum and bass heads and those who just want a party, Pangea has been tearing up dancefloors in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee for 5 years. With a highly respected resident crew that has played alongside many of the leading lights in DNB and the best choice of guest dj's and mc's from the Scottish scene, Pangea continues to keep the people dancing, rinsing out sound systems but not your bank balance."
For our 5th birthday celebration we are joined by two of Scotland's premier DJ's: Dave Lowe and D-Fade. Both are residents at Edinburgh's mighty Split, and regularly play at other nights such as Symbiosis, Obscene and their new venture Touchbass. Two of the most technically gifted drum and bass dj's around, their dancefloor friendly selection is guaranteed to be a perfect soundtrack for the birthday bonanza.
