Djrehn Trahi is the second album in my science-fiction trilogy. The story in this album starts off about 1000 generations after the story in Sythisean, inside of a self-sufficient ship that was built to carry the Sythisean civilization to a safer part of their galaxy. Through the generations, the story of the Sythiseans became myth, the ship became all anyone knew, and all records were seemingly lost; a sort of Dark Ages for the Sythisean people. I tried to reflect this in the music by keeping it experimental in its structure. I thought of how the inhabitants would experiment with music writing. I also wanted to capture the organic nature of these people who are tied in with technology. To do this, I let the electronic music flow out of my mind with little composure, organically. I would put myself in the state of the people and find the notes that completely matched.

About the work:
The album starts off with "Vessel Djrehn Trahi," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. It's a very dreary and mysterious song, reflecting the lives and the situation that the ancient Sythisean people have taken on for the survival of their future generations.
The next track is "Vaspitur". This song reaches back closer to the timeframe of the story on the Sythisean album. The music sets a backdrop for the flight away from Orhelicon, the home planet of the Sythiseans. The fear.... the unknown.... running away from danger, a power much greater... leaving everything behind.
"Darkness Tethers" deals with the dark, mysterious entity that the people aboard the ship come to fear. There is no physical force attached to the ship, however there is a massive search taken on by the darkest in the galaxy to find the ship and recover it's contents. Through generations, the story of the key to the universe has dwindled and changed a bit, but the fear is still prominent in the stories that the inhabitants pass down. The story is something more of a fairytale to teach lessons and respect. However, there is a chill in the air, and as the time of the crash nears on that very chill grows to extremes.
"Thorns of Black Fire" is the first song that deals with a character aboard the ship; his name, Leolotus Frist. His mind has been open since he was a child, and he felt closer to the tales of the people's origins and myths than anyone else on the ship. He travels to a mystic that lives on the lowest deck of the ship to ask about his past...and his future. What she tells him is that he is of an ancient bloodline, directly connected with the forces of the ship (which they don't realize is a ship, in case anyone forgot). He spends the next few years of his life secretly coming to this mystic. Together they try to figure out the ancient language in the documents preserved on the bottom deck of the ship. Traversing through a room hidden away for centuries, they stumble upon a video screen. They don't know what the people in the message are saying, nor do they realize the imagery they are seeing. Fear encapsulates both he and the mystic, but curiosity grows deep within. Over the next years, they translate and record everything they find... and through their labor, the Sythisean are reborn. However, the only person Leolotus Frist tells of his findings is his lover. Worried about Frist, his lover mentions the stories of his to the spiritual leader of the people. Realizing the turmoil this may cause, the leader tries to hush up the investigations of Frist and the mystic... but before much harm can be done, they release their findings to the public. Tension builds on the ship... the date of the crash (the scheduled landing) of the ship draws near...
"Orhelical Dreams" encapsulates the feeling in a dream that Leolotus Frist has about the imagery he witnessed on the ancient screens. Confusion controls the direction of the dream... the land... the giant open space above the people... the fear in the voices... the characters... the ship that Frist knows, but....new? the journey... and the key...the reason behind it all. Leolotus feels a great responsibility to......
The crash happens...
The ship lands and throws the entire species in chaos.
"Dust of A Thousand Generations" is a song that deals with the weight Frist feels of the entire generations...his entire speicies...their existence...on his shoulders. He knows he is the one to lead them all. After the ship lands, Frist is the first one to find an exit. He steps out onto a desert cliff and doesn't realize at first what he sees. There are towering structures all around in the valley below, but there doesn't seem to be any life. Everything is crumbling... a dust storm is coming in from the left... Frist comes to realize that this scene is of the same city he saw in the ancient videos... His excitement quickly turns to pain as he realizes that no one is here... no one is left alive... all that's left is the dust...after a thousand generations... he cries out...
We are taken back to Frist's youth in "Young Frist" ... to a time before his father passed away... to a story his father liked to tell... a family story... of a time, far in the past. Young Frist loved to hear the story. It was of a young boy who wanted to travel to the stars. No matter what anyone told him, this boy was determined. His father would say that one day spirits came into the view ports- the fabled windows on the ship which allowed the passengers to see out to the stars long before the wildlife took over the outer reaches of the ships' interior. The boy was allowed to leave with the spirits and journey to explore the stars. As unbelievable as the story was to anyone else, Frist felt a connection to it. He traveled into the wild regions of the ship time after time to try to find these view ports.... he longed for something more... he longed to be in the story... and after his father passed away... he longed to be with him.... maybe the spirits could reunite them... maybe he could hear the story again... fall asleep in his father arms one more time... the song ends with young Frist's discovery of a view port and his first look out.... into the stars.
"Glow" is a story of the innocence in Frist's first love...
"Serenity" was written to bring much deserved rest to the people of Djrehn Trahi
"Celestial" is the song that ties both of the first two albums together. During the song a dance takes place in the ballroom of the ship... glass windows fill the entire roof of the dome that encapsulates the dance floor... two people appear... they start out young and shy....and through the songs' changes they mature and become closer... dancing gracefully with the beautiful nighttime sky behind the crystal clear glass.... as the song reaches it's end, so do the lovers...they lay for rest on the dance floor and look up to the nighttime sky... with one last embrace the scenery brightens.... and in place of the lovers remains two precious newborns.... the ship continues on into the distance.
"Planet Djrehn Trahi" is the closing song of the album, which leaves us with the people of Djrehn Trahi moving out into their new world.... a new journey
