Originally from Oklahoma, Paul Brewer is currently Director of Instrumental Music (Wind Ensemble and Jazz Bands) at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI.
Paul has an impressive list of education credits, having taught music and directed student bands at every age level. A guest jazz soloist and clinician at dozens of schools, festivals, and conferences, Paul was featured as a improvisation clinician ("Training the Jazz Trombone soloist") at the 1998 and 2001 International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) conferences in New York City. Paul was selected again by IAJE to present a clinic at the 2003 IAJE Conference in Toronto. During the 1990's, Paul was Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Southern Colorado.
Paul's former students include the gifted poet/singer-songwriter Allye Gaietto and the superb jazz trombonists John Moak and David Gibson. Paul's most well-known former student is Norah Jones.
