   About Paul Brunett

Having shared the stage with such names as Kansas, The Temptations and The Ragamuffin Band, to name a few, Paul’s music is just as widely diverse and broadly accepted, as it is familiarly personal. With a strong emphasis on the emotional attachment in music and song, he is the epitome of a songwriter's songwriter. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, you can definitely hear a progressive, percussive, soulful blend of jazz and folk in his music. “This Singe/Songwriter/Guitarist, with his soulful voice, and intense and rousing guitar playing, has a unique sound that is all his own.” Pam Windsor News Channel 13, ABC, Lynchburg, VA “Paul's music is honest, intimate, and completely relative to everyday life.” Nanci Dodson Kelly’s Music, Virginia Beach, VA “Brunett sings sweet tunes about relationships.” Jon Busdeker The News and Advance, Lynchburg, VA His journey in music began at the age of 12, where he began studying drums and percussion under former Foghat band member Mike Shepherd, who was currently performing with The Maryland Symphony Orchestra. He then continued his education with ex-LA studio drummer Frank Russo, who was serving as a member of the Naval Academy Band. Having learned and performed practically every style of music, while developing a strong sense of feel, combined with ambidexterity, Paul was well on his way to a bright future as a drummer in the music business. “The drums of Brunett make you wonder: ‘How many arms does that guy have?’” Jon Busdeker The News and Advance, Lynchburg, VA He developed his own unique style based on fundamental jazz, where everyone is constantly pulling from one another. Embracing the concept, he then applied it to all styles of music. He began performing with groups across Maryland, and soon became a house drummer at a local studio. With every studio session, he found himself playing a different style of music; from pop to rock to jazz to folk to rhythm and blues, and the list goes on. Just three months into college, at the age of 18, Paul was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma...a form of cancer. He was forced to leave school for treatment. Fortunately, the cancer was localized in one of his legs, so after numerous trips to the John’s Hopkins Hospital, surgery, and rounds of chemotherapy, tests showed the cancer was in remission. It was during his lengthy recovery, when he wasn’t able to play the drums, that he began exploring his voice, the guitar, and the depths of his songwriting abilities. He used ‘open-tunings’ and started using his experience with the drums, to craft structured songs. He says while most of his songs are about the great love we’ve been given to share, he also writes about spirituality, the living God, and the struggle for survival. “Artists are so often pigeonholed into stating which ‘genre’ to which they claim affiliation. Although tied with categories such as jazz, folk, and fusion, Paul consistently defies explanation. And, contrary to many artists today, he's singing about something real.” Nanci Dodson Kelly’s Music, Virginia Beach, VA Here is a peek into one of his performances… “Paul Brunett opened as we took our seats on what appeared to be second-hand couches, the best kind. The folk sound filled my tense ears as he played to the small crowd. The deep relevance of his lyrics seemed to speak of his life, but the acoustic beat kept my hand tapping with anticipation. The deep emotional words gave the feel of stories of his experiences which added to the rich sense of his passionate tone. A job well done I say.” Jon Busdeker The News and Advance, Lynchburg, VA

Hey there,

Here's one from left field...

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?

A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:

Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella

Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.

Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here:

Help to raise awareness.

Say have you checked out my web site recently?

Take care and keep in touch.

Best,
Faber.
