As promised here is a list of inspiration: Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Paul Rodgers, Joe Cocker,
Frankie Miller,I think there is a pattern here!

Born in Wolverhampton (August 1959), Paul sang with several Midlands rock bands in the late 70's, before moving to London to audition for acappella band "Darts" in 1980. He made the last two, and though not getting the gig, he realised his future as a singer lay in the south.
1980 – 82
Paul joined the band "Giants" which began a long relationship with guitarist/songwriter Gordon Reaney. Then came a record deal with Magnet Records. The 1982 version of "All People Go Mad" (still in his set), was produced by Dale Griffin of Mott the Hoople, who is now a producer for BBC Radio

1985 – 87
Paul became part of 8-piece soul outfit led by Tim Hinckley called "Heart and Soul". Highlights of this period were an appearance at the Capital Music Festival and opening for Ray Charles at the Royal Festival Hall. Paul then joined forces with Brendan Hoban in the "Messengers" which for six months were the most exciting live Blues and Soul band on the scene. He also worked with Snowy White and Kuma Harada during this period. Paul was briefly with Renegade Management who also handled Paul Young.
1990 - 92

Having built up a reputation in Germany and Holland, the band have also appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival alongside Eric Clapton, and opened for Ray Charles in Germany in July 92.
