Paul is best known as the voice on the Rubettes number one single “Sugar Baby Love” which sold over 12 million copies world-wide featuring his three and a half octave voice. He had several other chart successes over the 70’s and 80’s as a solo artist with his own compositions “Your baby ain’t your baby anymore” and “If you get hurt” and as featured vocalist on the “Tight Fit” single “Back to the Sixties part II” (Four Seasons and Hollies section lead plus harmonies). Paul started out as a session singer, whose voice was often featured on TV ads. for British Airways, Harp Lager, Smiths Crisps, British Telecom and many others. He guested on albums by Ringo Starr, Gary Moore and Jeff Wayne and did backing vocals on Top of the Pops with Elton John and Justin Hayward.
Paul went on to appear as the Narrator in the Who’s Tommy at the Shaftesbury Theatre in the West End of London and starred in his own musical “Squeak” at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch. He also appeared as the Pharaoh in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat” at the Grand Theatre Swansea. Paul was also the featured vocalist in the award winning show “That’ll be the day”. Paul has performed with his own band at the Royal Albert Hall opening for Fats Domino and has appeared on television and in concert all over Europe and the UK.
For the past three years Paul has been appearing with The Rubettes featuring Bill Hurd performing in concerts throughout Europe. Paul left the group in 2006 to concentrate on setting up his own record label Sugar Note Records, and on production and writing. He is currently recording a new solo album which he has written and produced.
