Would love to be able to say I stumbled across some Robert Johnson recordings in my grannies attic when I was a young boy and have been playing the blues ever since but I can't.
Truth is I'm a late comer to music but I'm catching up !
I'm the one remaining original founding member of The Sutton Blues Collective, founded in Sutton Coldfield West Midlands in April 2000
I'd been playing the guitar for a couple of years prior to the founding of the blues club and over the ensuing years have been privileged to meet some of the worlds great players.
I am myself a fingerstyle / slide player, I have evolved a sound that is uniquely my own and lean ever more towards songwriting.
I perfom regularly and am available in any of the following line ups :--
Solo / Blues Duo with Tony Stokes (harmonica)/ Band Paul Cowley & The T.T's and Acoustic Trio with Harry Boylan & Terry Rudge
Released first cd "Dont Need Too Much" in 2005, received good reviews, some radio airplay, local radio interviews & live radio performance.
Have performed in a supporting roll with Ian Siegal, Paul Lamb, The Kingsnakes, Johnny Dickinson, Guy Davis, Kent du Chaine,Mojo Buford, Jim Crawford, Eddie Martin, Catfish Keith, The Spikedrivers, Chris Jagger, Rod Clements, B.B.King (last one is a joke!)
Anyway thats the past. Now for the future !
See you out there.
Quotes :
" Thanks for your sweet sounds, your love of this music shines" Guy Davis.
"Good acoustic country blues. Look out for this man, go see/hear."
R.J.Greaves (Blues In Britain)
"If acoustic blues are your particular penchant, then this set & artist are worthy of your consideration" Mick Rainsford ( Real Blues Magazine Canada)

Hi Paul, Here's a workshop that you might be interested in on Saturday 21st March at the Sutton Blues Collective. Jim Crawford is one of the Country's leading acoustic guitarists, and will be giving instruction on fingerpicking and bottleneck styles.
He is also performing in concert at the Sutton Blues Collective on Wednesday 18th March. A rare chance of seeing him this far north of Devon.
