Paul Emme (pronounced like Emmy) is a Victoria based singer-songwriter, student, and daydreamer. Blending simple bouncy melodies with lyrics that run the spectrum from quirky to impressionistic he has described his own music as “swingy-alternative-folk-rock” and “equal parts pop, protest, poetry, and poltergeists”. His musical influences include contemporary song-crafters like the Barenaked Ladies and Hawksley Workman and old staples like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. Paul was born in Vancouver and lived in Nova Scotia, Washington State, and Edmonton, Alberta where he attended a performing and visual arts high school (where he honed his musical skills playing French horn in band class). He is currently studying Philosophy and English as an undergraduate at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island. Paul has enjoyed sharing his music over the passed couple of years at open mics and was given the opportunity to work on his songs with Roy Forbes, Bill Henderson, and a group of other budding songwriters at the George Ryga Centre for the Arts in Summerland BC.
