ok--this site is mine: Paul Epstein, so just me, BUT -- I am in a band also -- the Contrarians. Here's our website: http://pages.suddenlink.net/contrarians..
Influences
SOoooo many! From centuries old Celtic and Applachian through 20's blues and swing, early country, 60's rock 'n roll, contradancing, and anything I might hear that I fall in love with.
Sounds Like
Well, there's me singing and writing songs, and then there's me fiddling. When I sing I sound like me, I'm not trying to sound like anyone else. But here are some people others have compared me to (sometimes favorably):
Neil Young,
Paul Simon,
John Prine,
John Gorka,
Elvis (only when I really want to),
James Taylor,
The Band,
My idols in the fiddle world are Liz Carrol, Kevin Burke (and any great celtic fiddler), Stephane Grapelli, Darol Anger (and any great swing fiddler), J.P. Fraley, Melvin Wine (and any great old-time fiddler); get the picture?
Looking forward to the 'show' .. bring your fiddle and we'll do a few jigs, I'll have my bhodran.

Hi Paul, We have a great mtn.dulcimer player and singer/songwriter playing at UUC in Charleston on Thurs. Sept. 13th. by the name of Butch Ross. His 'Marshfork Elementary' song is featured quite a bit lately. Theres a few other musical outings in the Fall, listed in one of our blogs.
Paul, thanks for the compliments. I've been working so hard on my banjo playing that my guitar playing has suffered. I had a great time playing some music with you and meeting you. Until next time!!!
HELP PUT THE STANLEY BROTHERS IN THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME!
Ralph Stanley has received many well-deserved honors in the last few years, yet one honor eludes him. While many of their fellow musicians and singers have been recognized by The Country Music Hall of Fame, THE STANLEY BROTHERS have been sadly -- some say criminally -- overlooked.
Jeanie Stanley, youngest daugher of Carter, and fan Kaye Hill have organized an on-going petition to change all that.
"The Country Music Hall of Fame recognizes those persons who have made a significant contribution to the country music field," says Hill. "The Stanley Brothers helped lay the foundation for what we have today. Their names deserve to be listed among greats like Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, who have already be recognized."
You can join their efforts in one of the following ways:
Contact the CMHoF directly:
Mr. Kyle Young, President
Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum
222 Fifth Avenue South
Nashville TN 37203
Or, if you prefer, you can send a letter to Kaye Hill, who will forward them to the HoF.
D. Kaye Hill
PO Box 2553
Harrisonsonburg VA 22801
Kay says, "a simple one-line note is all that would be required, but please remember to supply your name and address, and an email address if applicable. I will be collecting all letters and forwarding them to the Country Music Hall of Fame."

Hey guys, just wanted to invite everyone to our new forum on WV Band Scene. There's a lot of music-related networking potential there, so I urge you guys to check it out. The URL is: www.wvbandscene.com/forum. See you there!
I play fiddle with western MA's best Irish acoustic quartet: Woodkerne. You might have heard me talking about it on WMUA's Celtic Connections (91.1FM). I'll be there again Friday the 9th of March with my friend Laurie talking and fiddling. Check it out!
One other thing, If you're a fiddler, then you'll want one of these bows. You can order one yourself from Steve Perry at Gianna Violins! CLICK HERE. See you soon, Adam Sweet - inventor, developer
Hey there! Ok so you've signed up as a friend of NEGAL. What's next? Tell your friends! It's going to have to be a grass roots effort to start, because we have $0.00 for marketing, and until we get like 10,000 members, we've decided to keep it free. So please tell everyone you know that makes guitars or violins, fixes them, makes bows, or fixes/rehairs them, tell your suppliers, your musician customers and please get the word out! Thanks a lot for everything. Adam, Jim & John - NEGAL
