Greetings, I'm Paul Harrison. I've been plying my trade since 2005 around the bars, clubs and festivals of Cumbria armed with an acoustic guitar and a few FX pedals.
I've done support gigs for a few notable guitar luminaries including Gordon Giltrap, Preston Reed and Wizz Jones. Also Bellowhead, Po Girl, and shared festival bills with everyone from Nizlopi to Steve Earle to Dizzee Rascal....
If, like me, you hunger for explorations in music as an antidote to corporate commercial drivel like the X Factor then I would imagine I'd like to be your friend.
I run a jam session in Kendal every Monday in Dickie Doodles. All welcome to come and play- anything goes... and often does.
I've taught guitar for years and have seen many kids (and adults) bloom into great musicians. Recent workshops with Bluejam, Penrith's youth music organisation, have been great fun. Drop me a line for lessons in Penrith.
In 2007 I became an endorsee of Cort guitars. Cheers, Rog!
I'm a founder member of Mostly Acoustic Cumbria, a musician's collective for the area. It's really taken off with showcases and events kicking off regularly, including the massively successful Macfest. Click here for tickets.
New projects include playing guitar as the world's first atheist Rasta for the Northern Reggae Generator, N.R.G..... Ire vibrations and that. The NRG are really taking off now, with festival spots and some awesome gigs cracking off. Check 'em in me top friends...
Also in the newly formed (sort of) band The Slabs, with Dave Vanstone on vox/guitar, Moz on bass and Paul Hancock on saxamajigamaphone. Again check me top friends.

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.
Hi Paul! Just thought I'd let you know that your suggestion of starting a band has pretty much convinced me that next year is not a good time to go Canada. I'll leave it up to you whether you feel good or bad about that! :-D
Seriously though, I'm having so much fun with all the music stuff that's going on at the moment and the thought of singing my own songs in a band is so exciting! I'm rather content with life and really want to give things a go here before I disappear to another country.
The TGM Awards 2009 is coming! The nominations have been announced for the sixth annual awards and we can confirm that Paul Harrison has 3 nominations, for:
* Best South Cumbria Act * Best Solo Act * Best Alternative Act
The poll opens on Friday 20th November 2009 and will close on Friday 18th December 2009.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
