Bio
Paul Hlebcar has been a San Francisco Bay Area musician and bandleader for over twenty years. As the leader of the seven-piece R&B band The Desotos, Paul has played many venues, including the Fillmore Auditorium (opening for Tower of Power) and the San Francisco Giants' Stadium (where The Desotos sang the National Anthem three times). Paul's other love is a quieter, "unplugged" sound, which goes back to his roots (he began his career playing folk music). Lately, he has been performing regularly in smaller, more intimate settings. His warmth and personality come across well at these gigs. Paul plays acoustic guitar and a "mean" harmonica. He sometimes adds drums, bass, and piano for a fuller sound. "Cooler, hipper, and a lot less commercial than anything you'll find without a time machine." -- Stephen Morse, Juice Online Review -

Influences
oh so many...dylan, beatles, stones, the band, elvis costello, steely dan, mississippi john hurt, joni mitchell, and shawn colvin are probably the strongest ones. i think. -
Sounds Like
someone once said i'm a cross between elvis costello and the band. interesting. i'll take it.
