A Rumour of Angels is the extraordinary new CD from Toronto-based singer/songwriter Paul Humphrey. Best known as the legendary front-man for the seminal new-wave band Blue Peter, Paul has continued to stretch the boundaries of popular music with his bands The Monkey Tree and, more recently, the critically acclaimed Broken Arrow.
Seeking a deeper musical expression to accompany his songs, Paul has left behind the familiar structure of "a band" and hooked up with award-winning composers Patric Caird and Paul Alexander to create a beautiful and adventurous album arranged for voice and chamber orchestra.
The CD, featuring members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, represents a radical evolution from Paul's earlier work. It brings together the expressive potential of classical instrumentation with the heightened poetry of Paul's lyrics to create a rich, emotionally moving collection of songs that come directly fom the heart and speak to the spirit.
