Sounds Like
What I'm striving for is an authentic sound - a sound that can be recognized as mine, for good or ill, irregardless of which flute I happen to be playing.
Paul's CD "Rhythm Of The Seasons" is available at cdbaby.com at the following link: http://cdbaby.com/cd/paulmcauliffe. It's over an hour of original music and all instruments are played by Paul. Two songs are played on a replica of an 1100-year-old Anasazi flute created by Michael Graham Allen/a.k.a. Coyote Oldman. Three flutes on the CD were created by Paul, who makes both transverse and Native American style flutes out of bamboo. He also loves to drum, and plays West African djembe with the Mother Earth Drummers.
Paul is originally from Albany, New York, and now resides in Panama City, Florida. He has lived in the Green Mountains of Vermont, on the Maine coast, in the Chihuahuan Desert of the West Texas border country, and in Big Cypress Swamp in South Florida.
Paul was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in the Spring of 2008 and has become active in the local autism community. He is the founder and facilitator of the Bay County Adult Asperger's Support Group, and also assists with a support group for children with Asperger's.
Paul is a Certified Volunteer for Covenant Hospice, and has played flutes for many people under Hospice care.
Paul is available for concerts and workshops: ravenbear47@yahoo.com
AWA welcomes ASAN President Ari Ne'eman and Board Member Paula Durbin Westby, organizer of Saturday October 31st Washington DC area protest against Autism Speaks. We'll be hearing from them about ASAN's protest at Autism Speaks' DC area walk-a-thon Saturday as well as the growing wave of protests against Autism Speaks around the country, why its happening, where its going, what its implications and importance will be for the neurodiversity movement & the autistic community. In addition, we'll be checking in with ASAN on some of their advocacy priorities inside the beltway, asking about how Autistic people will be impacted by the health reform packages being considered by Congress and what pending legislation on school abuse might have to help Autistic students.
My dear Friends! Thank you so much for your amazing and insightful comments and messages over the past few months! I hope you are ALL doing magnificently, living in the NOW right now, living in the Light. I am very happy to let you know that on August 17, 2009, I opened my solo Family Medicine clinic here in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, called Healing Waters Family Medicine. I find that an important thing I am having to do is get the old community-health-center-practice-model out of ME so I can realize my dreams here. At first, I was surprised how little the job had changed even though I was in a new and beautiful place. Slowly it has dawned on me that as I change myself, my clinic will change.
As I let go of fear I find I that one can move at my own pace at work, take time to be with myself and with others throughout the day, time to really think about things, enjoy life. I think I can do this! At least I did it today! And most of the time this week!and I can do it everyday as long as I...well I guess as long as the bills don't exceed the money coming in.
It is quite odd that at the time when I am realizing my dream to have the vehicle that I thought would be my part of "healing the world," I am letting go of my idea of healing the world! Maybe it does not need to be healed! Maybe it is really ok and doing all right as it is.
I am working a lot and every night I get pissed off when I am staying after 8 pm trying to figure out how to enter billing codes and struggling with my bad typing etc until late...but then I go home and I feel free, nothing hanging over my head.
So I may not be able to write very often but I APPRECIATE EVERY ONE OF YOU GREATLY. You are in my heart and my thoughts. (I hope to be able to show some of the beautiful videos you have sent me, in my waiting room! Hope that is OK.) .
If you believe in what you are doing, then let nothing hold you up in your work. Much of the best work of the world has been done against seeming impossibilities. The thing is to get the work done.
Thanks for the compliment and the add Paul. We love your music as well. So.... do you consider yourself a flutest or a floutest??? Hmmmm. Beautiful stuff new friend... keep it up.
Every time that we listen & write music... play an instrument... sing & dance... act in a play... or work in some audio/image/video engineering process... something is healing inside...
When we share it with friends... something is healing all over...
Love can drive... in a simple way... everything
We are connected
