PAULO MATTIOLI is a world-renowned multi-percussionist, educator and instrument designer. He has performed with many major artists such as Kenny Loggins, Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Mickey Hart, and Babatunde Olatunji. Paulo graduated with honors and holds a bachelor's degree in music, communications and visual arts from the University of San Diego. He received a U.S. scholarship for his groundbreaking research in the use of drumming for communication within West African Culture.
Paulo has a special ability to inspire and empower others via the drum. He is passionate about his work, radiating joy, patience and willingness while graciously sharing the Spirit of Rhythm and community teambuilding.
Paulo tours internationally, performing as well as facilitating corporate, college, and community drum circles. He leads Rhythm Journey-- drum circles at special events, master classes, and drum clinics worldwide. A Signature artist for Remo World Percussion, he is the designer of the Paulo Mattioli Signature Series Djembe and Dun Dun drums for Remo Inc. Paulo authored the comprehensive instructional DVD/Video series, “Hands on Drumming,” and West African Djembe Drumming called “The best video we have seen” by DRUM MAGAZINE.
Paulo is the musical director of "Drums of Fire," a West African drum and dance performance ensemble, featured nationally on Fox television's, The Method Show. Paulo’s new World Music CD “Around the World in Rhythm” provides the soundtrack which drove “The Method” videos to the top ten on the Billboard charts.
Paulo has dedicated his life to promoting community, creativity and raising global consciousness through the unifying rhythms of the drum.
