Bones - Live at Noise Bar
Neye Benziyor?
Original and Traditional Brazilian music tinged with Western flavours.
Born in Brazil in the late 70's, he lived in his hometown, Sao Paulo, for almost all of his life. At twelve he went to the church and was mesmerised by the music, something different from the radio and TV, as he says "people were living what they were singing, it really shook me up".
At thirteen he discovered The Beatles, when he found an old record in a shabby old box at his aunt's house. The sound from the 60's/70's had a definitive impact on his life and soon he and his brother were sharing (and fighting) to play the family guitar.
At sixteen he formed his first band, "Novo Rumo", a mix of Rock, Grunge, Blues and their own crazy ideas. For four years Novo Rumo played in several venues, churches and festivals. They were noticed for their energetic appearances, however, they also received some "stones" when they played at the church - perhaps they were a little too controversial....... ?
In his early 20's, Paulo steered clear of the music scene. He found it increasingly difficult to find his place in the 'system' and action his rights. He resented the systematic inequality that promised nothing more than a lifetime ticket to the rat race.
After two years, Paulo started to play the guitar and write again to express his disappoint in the 'system'. At the start he was miserable, he says that "I wrote about fear, pain, hate, sadness... it was good in a way, I could release some pressure from my shoulders, it is over now".
Coming to Australia in early 2006, Paulo Silva is experiencing a rebirth in his music, always searching the meaning of things, words, feelings and life. This search has given him new horizons in life, in his music, in relation to the world and his surroundings. Music has become "a mirror reflecting myself".
The search will continue, until the end of everything, because "life is very short, no time for fussing my friend".
