Guitarist and vocalist Paul Sherry has just recorded his debut album ‘To The Bitter End’. The album is an in your face blues rock album which from start to finish consists of fine guitar solos with rust and dust sounding vocals backed by a driving rhythm section of drum and bass. It features on bass respected bassist Ronnie O Flynn who apart from being a top session drum and bass player has toured with Sharon Shannon and Donal Lunny to name but few while laying it down on drums is Ronan Morgan session drummer and sound engineer and finally Grainne Duffy on rhythm and backing vocals who is now breaking waves with her own blues rock album Out of the Dark. This album has a roaring live feel all the way and any fan of Rory Gallagher ,Stevie Ray Vaughan or Jimi Hendrix will know that this album fits right in with that vibe.
Paul who comes from a musical family, his mother being singer Gloria while his father formerly a bass player and now manager Don. From these musical roots Paul started at a young age in the music business playing with his mothers band up and down the country and at seventeen he went to The London Guitar Institute where he studied all styles of playing. After finishing his study in London Paul began touring all over Ireland while also doing sessions for T .V., Radio. with many bands and saw him also playing abroad in Spain ,America and England while still writing his own music.
In 2004 Paul won the Riff Demon competition in London, sponsored by Elixir strings with a prize of 1000 pounds sterling. In 2005 Paul together with Wally Mc Conville ,John Conlon and Grainne Duffy formed Shanco a blues rock quartet, which recorded one album together. The band built up a loyal following across the emerald isle playing festivals such as Blues on the Bay Festival sponsored by Guinness and headlined by Van Morrison. Paul then began writing material for his own album which he is now taking on the road. It is a album of blasting blues rock energy with great guitar playing and songs from the heart that drive from track one to ten. You can’t afford to miss it.
