   About Paul Swoger-Ruston
I was born in Toronto in 1968. I began my professional career as a guitarist, touring and recording with rock and jazz bands including the popular Canadian band King Apparatus, and I am currently performing and recording as a freelance guitarist supporting several singer/songwriters including Jonathan Cooke (France), Kirsten Jones (Can), and Clara Engels (Can). My film music collective Resolver (co-founded with Mitch Girio and Morgan Doctor) composes and produces music for film and television (recent work includes a 26-part series for the Discovery Channel (USA), documentaries for The CBC and The Showcase Network (CAN), and a feature length) I am primarly an avant-garde composer (but have decided to dedicate this space with my pop influenced music). I've had works premiered in the USA, Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and Russia. I recently completed a PhD in Theory and Composition at Dartington College of Arts (UK), and have received several awards including The Society for the Promotion of New Music (SPNM) Butterworth Award, the Marion Lower Prize in Composition, the Long & McQuade Guitar Scholarship, 2 CASBY Awards (with band King Apparatus), and his piece ‘For Muted Piano’ was selected for the SPNM 2003/04 Shortlist. 04 March 2006

Hi Paul,
listening to skin and bones this morning... feeling inspired to play some honking, squeaking clarinet... so keep it in mind just in case you ever need some.

Hope you and your family are well! Take good care,

Jo

Dear Paul,

I've just listened (again) to your Demo '07 CD (I got it from James) and I thought I'd send a note to say it's great. I liked it all but in particular 'Collect and Recollect', (the tape piece is excellent - but you know I'm a 'tape' fan). Also 'Skin and Bones', the piano pieces, it's a nice CD.

Best wishes,
Mel

I really love all the tracks you've posted here Paul. 'Skin and Bones' is great, I keep listening to it. And I also love the Bukowski-lyric one, (which I remember you playing for me of course). Really beautiful stuff. I'm very glad you're all myspaced-out too now!
Talk soon,
Clara
